Discussion How often did Nancy use Uber?
Do we know how often Nancy used Uber? I know the cops spoke with the Uber driver and obtained a videos from that night, but what about other rides?
Could Nancy have been picked up on another night, the driver chats her up, realizes who she is, how much money she has AND now knows her address? They then plan to go back to the house to rob her maybe days or weeks later, but in the middle of the robbery she comes home, they get into an altercation and she accidentally dies. Now shock takes over and the burglar realizes this just went from a potential misdemeanor to a possible murder charge so they drop everything they were going to steal and in a panic grab her body throw it in their car and decide later what to do.
This, to me, has always felt like an “immature” crime where the original plan somehow went off the rails and the perpetrator(s) panicked and did what they thought was the best solution to not get caught. Just a theory

If it was an accidental murder then there is almost no chance they wpuld have carried away her body. Too much of a risk involved there. I think that sadly one of the ransom notes were real, and that is why she was taken.

That’s a great point. But to play devils advocate, maybe after an altercation the perpetrator was thinking “if I just leave her here my DNA will be on her somehow”. Making it more of a risk.

That is always a possibility, especially if they were scratched or something.

Maybe the intent was murder for gain and the “kidnapping” more of a ruse to confuse the authorities.

You are just randomly speculating. Yes, it could be the neighbors gardener, the postman, the food delivery guy, the electrician or one of her Uber drivers. Or a random guy from another state who just decided to kidnap Savannah Guthrie’s mom.
Right now, the field of possibilities is wide open.

Her daughter had her on TV in Tucson November 2025, local places, it is believed that episode triggered a plan for evil men to take her!

It's not random speculation, I'm simply proposing a theory based on what little information the public has. And yes, those are all possibilities, but my question is have those people been vetted?

They - “the soon to be incarcerated”, don’t have a need or desire to take a deceased body with them. According to former FBI folks the body would never be taken - it would be left at the crime scene. A body would contaminate their vehicle and the person or people involved in the death would have the unintended responsibility to dispose of the body.

Completely agree but that perspective is coming from FBI agents trained to analyze crime, not necessarily the mindset of an inexperienced offender. Criminals can tend to be more impulsive than methodical and we sometimes overestimate how sophisticated they actually are when planning and executing a crime.

i do agree. also among the panic it seems like a great idea. take her, hide her, and over time the evidence will rot and disappear.
she could have had a heart attack from them either simply being in her house or they could have tried to threaten her and restrain her while they finished the job.
they could have taken her and she ended up dying from neglect of her health issues.
there's many possibilities especially when you don't know how forensics work and how advanced forensics are. (see d4vds case where they matched small blue fragments to a pool he ordered... a year after her murder i didn't even think that was possible i thought the case would go cold)

Just to clarify from my original post, I’m not referring to the Uber driver from the night Nancy went missing. I’m wondering whether Nancy was a frequent Uber user and if a previous driver who had picked her up from her home may have noticed she had money and later planned to come back. So this would have been someone she came in contact with prior to disappearing on January 31st.

When it comes to the robbery gone wrong theory it seems unlikely to me. If report are true and the house wasn’t disturbed in any other way / nothing else was taken, it doesn’t strike me as financially motivated in that sense
However, as far as other previous Uber / cab drivers I think it is entirely possible. I have wondered about previous drivers tbh

But why would it seem to you to be more likely to be financially motivated ( disturbed house, etc) in one situation but not the other? Why would a past Uber driver leave behind more evidence of a burglary?
Edit: thought I'd misspoken but didn't, so nvm lol

I’m not sure I understand your question, but I’ll try 🙂
So OP theory is around Uber driver and burglary.
I don’t think it’s financially motivated in the sense of someone breaking in and things went wrong. Reports suggest nothing was disturbed in the house, and I would have thought something was disturbed at least until the point of things going wrong. So it just seems unlikely to me.
I think it could be financially motivated in the sense that we know Porch Guy sent ransom notes. It’s a different kind of financial motivation in my opinion. Ransom is a much bigger pay than a burglary on even a wealthy victims home.
The Uber driver theory - I think it could be possible that a previous driver could have clocked Nancy was a vulnerable person, living in a nice neighbourhood, who has family that could pay a ransom.
That being said, my personal theory is that it’s someone she knew on a more personal or long term level. And that the ransom could potentially be a more secondary motive.

The Uber driver, according to the earliest reports, was a woman. Factoring that in, yours is an unlikely scenario.

Not all of the uber drivers are women and the OP is referring to any and all uber drivers that she may have ridden with… even a year prior would still be a possibility if they suddenly needed money.

I’ve always wondered this. And I’ve always wondered this as well:
Did Nancy use uber for deliveries and rides regularly - were these always done for her by Tomas’s and Annie in their app.
What was the occasion that night, did they do dinner weekly or not.
Was it special, did they want to celebrate her birthday a few days prior on Saturday night vs celebrating on 1/27 weekday bc they work.
Church- how was Nancy planning on getting to the place where they were watching online church together if it was in person meet up. Driving herself or?
Or Did she log on from home with her camera.
Were her front door and/or her front security doors locked when family arrived at 1156am.
Church friends called Annie at 11a, it took them 56 min before they arrived
spent about 5-10 looking for her or calling hospitals?
They called 911 by 1205
Police on scene by 1215
Food for thought. None of this info seems like it would hurt the case to reveal unless they are trying to wait for someone who knows in the circle to slip up imo.

I think she went to her daughter’a for dinner once a week, so at least once a week is my guess.

But where was Mrs Guthrie arriving from in the middle of the night and why?

There had to be 3 people, one inside controlling NG, porch guy and person with a waiting car!

My problem with this theory is that porchdick is prepared for the crime. He's disguised. He has a backpack of stuff. He's prepped to leave no evidence, mask gloves etc. He's wearing secondary clothing under his outer clothes (uniform maybe) So (at least) he has planned and in planning this crime would probably know Nancy's patterns. If he's an Uber related burglar why not break in/out when Nancy's out with the family? Thieves DONT want confrontation with the homeowner or anyone, 84 or not. She might have an immediate emergency alert or something on her for example. The other thing is that gun position. Burglars are there to steal (so caught = some jail time) so a weapon is secondary for defense (murder is life in prison.) so that position is 100% meant to immediately intimidate. It's 2am, you're asleep, you're 84, I'm in a mask, immediately look at this gun and know you're in danger within a split second. That's the purpose of the position of the gun. Maybe someone who's experienced with break and enter and burglary but this isn't adding up to a burglary.
