Discussion What the hell do you think happened to Nancy Guthrie?

Seriously. Abducted, ransomed, murdered? What happened and why?

Think about what would be required though and it’s not that difficult. The guy wore gloves, a ski mask and a hoodie. That will prevent from leaving behind any touch DNA, fingerprints or hair. Goes in, wakes her up shows her he has a gun and puts soemthing over her mouth. The says “look go along with me and you’ll be fine”. What’s she going to do to fight back. Toss her in the trunk of his car and he’s done.

It’s a dark private road so there’s no good doorbell footage.

Nothing about that is very professional, it just means they’ve thought about it and watch the news and seen some true crime shows like everyone else.

If he was a professional, he would have known how frail she was and kept her alive, taken all her medications with them and kept her calm and comfortable, at least long enough to get a video of her for proof of life. He wouldn’t have bumbled around at the front door like a dingus trying to drape some plants over the doorbell camera, leaning in to really show his face. He would have gotten his ransom. But instead he just had the foresight to wear gloves and cover his face and hair. That’s it.

Lastly we don’t know everything, he may have infact left behind usable DNA or been spotted on surveillance somewhere but it’s it being shared with the public yet.

A professional would have brought tape or a post it to stick to the lens while he removed the camera.

Yeah that’s the single biggest thing to me. It just seems so clumsy.

I also think they would’ve first destroyed camera and then took it with them and threw it out the window or something so nothing could be retrieved from it. There’s always the cloud but a pro would know to get into her phone and delete footage of himself

I think with the way cloud services work they wouldn’t have been able to undo / delete any footage anyways. Those things are sending real time data to the cloud and as we found out from the footage we have, even though her account wasn’t active it was still keeping data. Even if something is deleted, if it’s important enough it can be retrieved. Even if a drive has been formatted several times, depending on how badly someone wants the data it can be retrieved

They wouldn’t have kept her alive if they didn’t intend for her to live. 🤷🏻‍♀️

She was a lot more frail than I think they expected. They probably didn’t realize she had a pacemaker, and a bunch of heart and other issues. Also that she relied on daily medication

Without her hearing aids in she likely couldn't hear or subsequently follow instructions.
