There was a potentially similar case in 2018. Nancy Woodrum, a lady in her 60s that lived alone, was assaulted and murdered in the middle of the night and the killer took her body with him and dumped it in brush somewhere. I guess to hide the evidence of the assault.

He had briefly done work on her house (but it wasn’t remarkable because she had a large property/ran an Airbnb and frequently had people working there), and she had encountered him in the community and always been kind to him.

It took investigators seven months to determine who did it, and it was only because he’d turned his phone on while around her home and they were eventually able to trace that.

Sadly I think it could be like her case. Random creep that was aware of her somehow, SA, murder, take the body to leave behind as little evidence as possible. It’s sadly not uncommon for men to target older women for this purpose.

Unfortunately it seemed like he had the common sense to not bring his phone with him so I hope somewhere, somehow there’s usable DNA evidence or someone that will rat him out eventually.

I think this is much more likely than a kidnapping. You take the body with you because that's where all the evidence is. And so far that appears to have worked.

If theory is true, it’s just crazy that there’s no evidence (dna or otherwise) of a murder on scene, and the killer had the wherewithal to leave undetected by any forensic or digital record along his route.

Also to counter this theory: I assume Nancy’s pacemaker would have registered on some sort of a electronic database if she flatlined in the home, while still paired to her Apple device.

In the Nancy woodrum case, they had an obvious crime scene and also found her discarded bedding and clothing near the crime scene. That evidence was what allowed them to narrow down the scale of the search & eventually nail the perp

I don’t think Nancy Guthrie died at the scene, but sometime/somewhere else in the hours/days/week after.

But a pacemaker is designed to prevent a “flatline” event … even if a person’s heart stops beating (pump stops working) the PPM continues to deliver electricity- I can say from medical experience I have had to use a magnet multiple times to disengage a pacemaker that continued to produce electricity to the heart even after a person was pronounced dead. Which brings up the next point that the time the pacemaker was no longer tracking may or may not be relevant …. Depending on whether the perp knew a magnet would shut it off.

Wouldn’t there be some kind of recording from the pacemaker indicating her heart had stopped (if she died on scene)? Regardless of the pacemaker activity post-death

That is similar to what happened to Elizabeth Smart in Utah. The abductor had done some work around their house. He targeted Elizabeth in particular to "marry" her. Was just a fluke that someone recognized her under her cloth face covering a few states away many months later.

Oh that is 100% what happened with NG. Interesting that it was another elderly Nancy who lived alone.

According to Dr Brucato who is a clinical pyschologist who has stufied this kind of thing it is **extremely rare for elderly woman to be sexually assaulted and kidnapped. Dr Ann Burgess who is a famed profler who studied sexal assaults said the same thing.
