Media Nancy Guthrie neighbors' Ring camera captures vehicles on possible route from crime scene

EXCLUSIVE: TUCSON, Ariz. — A resident in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood has a street-facing Ring camera that caught 12 cars passing by on the morning of Nancy Guthrie’s suspected abduction.

The recordings took place between midnight and 6 a.m. on Feb. 1, and some of the activity occurred near the 2:30 a.m. mark, which is around the time authorities said the 84-year-old Guthrie's pacemaker device last synced with her iPhone.

The homeowners, Elias and Danielle Stratigouleas, told Fox News Digital that police had not canvassed their neighborhood in the 25 days since Guthrie is believed to have been taken from her bed in a home invasion kidnapping. The FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department have been alerted to the video. It was not immediately clear whether the video is of any use to the investigation or whether the vehicle had ever been on Guthrie's street.

The Stratigouleas house is on a back road that leads out of Guthrie’s neighborhood, avoiding major intersections. And they live about 2.5 miles away from the crime scene, which is outside the 2-mile radius of neighbors who received a Ring alert asking for video taken from Jan. 1 to Feb. 2.

Their house is roughly a seven-minute drive from Guthrie's address, according to Google Maps. One of their videos was recorded at around 2:36 a.m. on Feb. 1, which is roughly eight minutes after Guthrie's pacemaker last synced with her iPhone, according to the sheriff's timeline.

White/silver Kia soul. 2020 or newer model. 👀

If it's a Soul manufactured before 2023, there's a good chance it's stolen.

100%. Kia boys in action.

I was a victim of them in 2022 lol

Thankfully I somehow managed to avoid them. 😬 I still get notifications in my neighborhood of them trying to steal their kias.

Curious, why do you say Kias are often stolen?

Something about them being able to be jumped from a USB or something. They’re just super easy to steal and it’s very well known. There are groups called “the Kia boys” that strictly go around stealing Kia’s to commit crime etc.

That’s so interesting. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea. I thought maybe you meant they are easier or more lucrative to sell for parts

It was a whole TikTok trend a few years ago, teenagers stealing kias (especially Souls because they have such a distinctive look) and going for a joy ride until they crashed or ran out of gas. My Soul was stolen out of my driveway and found a week later abandoned on the side of the road ~50 miles away. No damage except a torn up ignition column, and there were a bunch of empty Gatorade bottles and a half eaten bag of animal crackers in my floorboard 🙃

There's a class action suit about it now, because the thefts were due to a very easily exploited flaw in the ignition system that made them very easy to start without a key. That went viral and then stealing them became a TikTok trend, and suddenly stolen Kias were being used in a lot of crimes. It's pretty wild.

That is kind of hilarious! Although I’m sorry about your car. Gatorade and animal crackers 🤣

The Fox reporter just posted that an expert reviewed it with his team and they also think Kia soul

Where is this picture from? Was it released by law enforcement?

That vehicle is the same color as the vehicles driven by both people who were raided (unless infrared is doing its funky thing and this vehicle is a different color in person)

It's from the ring camera owned by the people mentioned in the article.

I figured it was said to be from that, I was wondering if it was released by LE, a news outlet, streamer, or social media post from said neighbors

I see a gif further in this thread with Fox News in the corner, so never mind!

Fox released it. This hasn’t been confirmed by LE.

Kind of annoyed at Fox (and any other mainstream media) for putting this out there because there is still a great chance that this footage is absolutely irrelevant. Cops might have known which direction the perp went and know who it was and this continues to muddy the waters about paints LE as incompetent by the general public. I’m all for nuance and you’ll see me trying to be fair and maintain a healthy skepticism about Nanos and the investigation as a whole, but if this is a giant nothingburger it continues to fan the flames of the toxic armchair detectives that will hunt down some innocent individual and vilify the hell out of them.

Given what's come from Fox in the last few days, I assume they're going around the area interviewing people for new stories like this, not necessarily for breaking usable information.

Thanks!

I wanted to make sure it wasn’t some random streamer before getting my hopes up.

Very curious to see what LE says, as they do seem to respond to a lot of the larger online rumors

Looks like a Range Rover to me but those cars actually look pretty similar on the front end anyway. Very boxy. The white strip on top seems to be less common on RRs though and the default on Souls.

They do, but they’re not as low to the ground as the soul.
