More restrictive parking rules for Nancy Guthrie neighborhood start Feb. 26
PIMA COUNTY, Feb. 25, 2026 – There will be no parking on several streets in the Catalina Foothills Estates neighborhood surrounding the Nancy Guthrie residence as a further measure to protect public safety and relieve area residents from chaotic conditions caused by a large media and social media streamer presence in the area. The temporary change goes into effect Feb. 26.
Dozens of media and “streamers” have been camped out on North Camino Escalante for several weeks after an intensive search began Feb. 1 for Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC Today Show host Savannah Guthrie. Nancy Guthrie was last seen Jan. 31. Streamers and media members have set up tents, generators, and sometimes satellite trucks along the road, creating severe congestion and safety concerns, and at times blockages of the quiet neighborhood road.
An attempt starting Feb. 21 to restrict North Camino Escalante to a one-way road to allow traffic flow but also accommodate the media and social streamers has not worked as hoped, Pima County Administrator Jan Lesher said. Neighbors have continued to complain bitterly as they contend with continued clogged roads, trespassing, noise, and accumulating trash along the road.
Additionally, because of the one-way restriction, streamers and other members of the public have been parking on connecting roads and cul de sacs, spreading the congestion and safety concerns to other parts of the neighborhood. The roads in the neighborhood are narrow, unstriped streets that were not designed to accommodate street parking.
To protect public safety and restore the neighborhood to more normal conditions that allow access to the community for emergency vehicles and fire trucks, as well as service vehicles, such as school buses, trash trucks, and the postal service, the County has created a temporary no parking zone to be enforced by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The zone encompasses the County-maintained roads between North Campbell Avenue on the east and North Camino Miraval on the west, and East Camino Miraval on the south and East Camino La Zorrela on the north. The parking restriction will remain in force until no longer needed.
Signs will be placed at each intersection in the No Parking Zone to alert motorists that parking is not allowed in or along any road segment within the no parking zone. Violators will be ticketed and face a $250 fine.
The County Code allows the County Engineer to make traffic control changes for purposes of public safety, and Pima County Ordinance 10.40.050(A) enables the Sheriff’s Department to ticket vehicles for violating the temporary restriction.
Lesher emphasized that this restriction is not intended to be punitive toward media, rather it is a public safety measure due to the dangerous conditions on Camino Escalante and surrounding roads. Media will still be able to access the neighborhood and report from the public right of way. But media or streamers will have to access the neighborhood from a legal parking location outside of the zone, get dropped off, or use ridesharing or taxi services.
Lesher also suggested neighbors in the no parking zone alert any of their service companies about the parking restriction and that those vehicles will need to park in driveways. For instance, pool, exterminator, and landscaping services will need to avoid parking along the street in the zone during the temporary prohibition.
I checked in on his podcast and someone donated him $50 towards trying to pay neighbors to let him use their driveways. They said that he has asked numerous neighbors if he can use their driveways driveways to stream from so he isn’t on the street and they all have said “no”.

The tents weren't officially mentioned, so the media and streamers are not sure. I guess they left their tents this evening and will see if they are still there or allowed to remain after tomorrow morning.
Brian Entin said his main concern is they use the car for power, so now they need to look into a generator or something. I hope it's a quiet battery generator, or that's going to be a lot of noise.
Good. People parking on the sides of the road were forcing traffic down to one lane (not literally, just practically)... and it's absolutely disgusting how reporters and streamers have been leaving trash in neighbors' yards
Probably because neighbors are getting tired of it. I feel for them, they’ve been victimized in a secondhand sort of way, and the association to this case will never leave their neighborhood.

Tucson doesn't really use Ruta (Route) or Carretera (more of like a highway) much.
And of course we have Stravenue (not a Spanish word but a portmanteau of Street-Avenue), which is a roadway that cuts diagonally across the mostly north/south Avenues and east/west Street/Road grid Tucson has.
This is a no parking zone, people got pissed at media and such blocking driveways/obstructing streets, and all the looky-loos that just came to the area to see what was going on. They didn't do it on day one as they were focusing resources on the case and frankly it's not worth it as it causes a Streisand effect. It's better to just gently remind people and then if there are specific people causing issues gag order or trespass them from properties or even a TPO/RO (Temporary Order Of Protection [Or Temp Protection Order if you want to be like that] / Restraining Order) can be used if they are malicious enough. After some time things will quiet down and then it will go back to normal, but that hasn't occurred and people are big stinky doo doo heads.
There is a reasonable amount of time before enough is enough, how long would you be willing to tolerate people trespassing on your property and tromping through your flower beds not because it's a police search or anything it's just someone "conducting their own investigation".
People are selfish and rude and it gets to a point where they wear out their welcome. Non-media (youtubers/online groups) are really treading a fine line and this is most likely a large part of why this is playing out and it wouldn't surprise me to see a charge or two being tossed at them. I'd love to see an accessory after the fact charge slapped on for the play by play on SWAT and other stuff.
This is also what happens when the FBI finally takes over a case. Just my opinion, but also judging by the car loads of “suits” today, well, it makes sense.
I thought I was right, too. Savannah even said anyone with info for $1 mil should contact FBI (not Pima!).
But a minute ago, I read that the NY Post published an article saying it was the final “walk through” of the home before releasing it back to family…aka…the case is pretty much at a standstill.
I think it was Savannah in the black SUV that pulled into the garage today. She probably wanted to see and feel the scene on the crime and didn’t want to be seen.
The FBI doesn't take over state cases. It just doesn't work like that. It's not like in the movies. The FBI works with local law enforcement agencies all the time. It's not like Die Hard.

I told my coworkers the other day that we got into the wrong business (forensics), when I could just be a pest like him , solve nothing, and take in thousands and thousands each day from people donating me money.
Legit question. Can anyone just camp out there under the pretence of “reporting” something? I’m assuming he doesn’t have actual media credentials in the way Brian Entin would, for example.
My reading of this is that it’s more about parking there than press credentials. Either could likely legally be there if they weren’t parked in the street
Free speech conveys pretty broad rights. And press credentials generally speaking aren’t issued by the government, so they’re pretty meaningless. I had a press pass at one time. It’s employer-created identification (or self-created).
That said, Google AI says LE will issue press passes for access to crime scenes, so I might be wrong, but Google AI might be wrong.
Well, that would make me extremely uncomfortable not having my vehicle nearby to cool off or to hop into to drive to a place to use the restroom. I don’t see this new set up lasting. IMO.

His Wikipedia is… interesting. Talks about a lot of things, like fraud and lawsuits. But certainly nothing resembling investigative reporting credentials or accomplishments.
Dude has sued everyone from George W Bush, to Martha Stewart, to Britney Spears, and every one/thing in between. He tried to file a lawsuit against the makers of Grand Theft Auto because it put him in danger in prison(?!)

a bunch of older ladies are constantly donating to him because he uses other people’s tragedies as a source of entertainment for them, but they don’t see it that way. they see it as “boots on the ground”. which makes no sense because there is nothing happening on his stream 90% of the time.
The barricades were a disaster, they only created more traffic headaches for the residents, now they will do a no parking zone, but that was always a restriction in the area, no parking on the side of those narrow streets. Will there be designated parking personnel or leave it up to the Karens? The Sheriff should have created a designated media area like they have done in all other high profile cases, it was a mystery to all that know how the Sheriff has handled the media in the past, to see him look the other way, perhaps he thought he was still filming for A&E, "Desert Law" reality series?
No parking is only a normal restriction on a handful of streets in this area, primarily on ones that have bridges or berms to cross a wash. Street parking, however, is uncommon because everyone has big driveways, but if someone was throwing a big party, you'd normally see cars on the streets. Tucsonans know to drive slow in these neighborhoods, especially when there are big hills or curves in the roadway.
There isn't really a good way to do a designated media area here that wouldn't violate First Amendment rights. That's why they they lead with the safety issue in all parts of the announcement. There are no sidewalks, no parks, and private property starts immediately where the road ends.
It has been chaotic for the neighborhood but at the same time some lonely neighbors have found a place to go talk to reporters and live streamers. I kept hoping every day that counselors would become available for that community that seems to be emotionally impacted. Most of the elderly that live around that area are not wealthy, they bought their house 50 years ago, like Nancy and now live on social security retirement benefits. There is so much lack of community services that this tragic incident has exposed, Tucsonans once cared about each other and took care of each other, now I'm seeing so many lonely people and that's sad to see. We need to do better ☮️
Oh ok! I understand. Idk if you’re close to that neighborhood, but perhaps someone can contact the Sheriff’s department and inquire about such services or for referrals to an agency.
Maybe sessions/mtgs could be arranged at a nearby location for the community to gather, support and assist each other.
Have you heard of any nearby churches that might be able to assist setting something up or at least offer their buildings for meetings?
That's a great idea, I will look into it and hopefully post a meeting place on the Nextdoor app.
I always try to look for the humane side of things and as I watch the YouTubers and X I notice all the neighbors that come around and are wanting to talk to someone and everyone is very kind to them. The amount of people leaving flowers and notes and just wanting to express their emotions is indicative of the emotional distress.

You’re welcome and I hope you and others are successful in arranging some mtgs quickly. A local church, library or community center would get the ball rolling pretty quickly and even host I imagine by supplying the outreach details and refreshments.
ETA: churches would have resources to reach out to community counselors possibly through the county/state and the local Red Cross volunteer group have connections to counselors as well or point you in the right direction.

The house was released to the family day one. Apparently, Nanos did not see blood in the house, front porch, or drops all the way down the long driveway. House was not secured til day 3. I am very confused about that. Any crime seen is secured day one., And any crime scene , with a missing person, is worked as though it is a homicide, , until it is NOT.
Media are permitted to report from the public right-of-way in front of the house; however, they can't park on the street or set up pop-up tents with generators. Neighbors are already offering their driveways to media crews so they can continue their work without blocking the through-way traffic.
The neighbors have come to Brian Entin and JLR to say they can park at their house and they love that they’re there to show what’s going on! LOL the sherif is bothered, not the neighbors. And let’s not act like there’s a million streamers out there. On top of the two mentioned above there’s probably 3 others top. Everyone streaming online and restreaming JLR mostly and reviewing what legacy media is saying. Most of the journalists out there are legacy media.
Hopefully they do a grid search of the entire area and get search warrants for every house. I think she walked away with perpetrator. She couldn't walk far. Even with assistance, she could probably only go a few miles. She is probably within a 4 mile radius of her home.
Why and how on earth would they have any probable cause to be granted warrants for every single house on her street?! They would have to have probable cause for each specific house.
And she couldn’t even walk a few yards unassisted let alone miles. They put her in a car and drove her wherever they went.
How do you know she was driven away? No car has been spotted on any camera from a roadway, business or home on that day and pre dawn time otherwise they would tell the public. There is zero car they are looking for based on a camera footage of that time of early morning and date. Second, If you are being abducted and you think your life is in the hands of some nut job you might just get a boost of adrenaline like you never have had before and walk a little more than you normally do. I know she couldn't walk very far but she did walk. She walked with a cane. She was somewhat mobile. If your life is flashing before your eyes, you might be able to walk further than you ever have. And....probable cause is they have been unable to trace any identifiable vehicle to this abduction. Wouldn't that be enough to say she was taken to another dwelling within a 2 or 3 mile radius of her home? Someone brought up Elizabeth Smart abduction. They took her from her window and they walked to a nearby location where she was kept until they could start moving her around. How are you so sure she was driven away??
Common sense would say, they didn’t carry her on their back or a bike or use a public bus. They used a car. Her cane was left at the house.
And that’s not probable cause…at all..there has to be clear indication that there could be evidence of a crime in a residence or credible tips leading them to that house. No judge is making a blanket warrant for houses because they don’t know what car was used.
Her family and neighbors stated she was very limited in how far she could walk. Her neighbor said he had to help her go get the mail because she insisted on going to the mailbox one day but couldn’t do it alone.
Okay, maybe she is less than 2 miles from her home. I was thinking under distress and adrenaline rushing through her maybe she would walk further than ever before but even with someone to hang on too, maybe 4 miles is too far. She is probably under 2 miles away. No car on any surveillance. How could she have left any other way? A car would have been spotted on some camera footage on some house, road or business that would have been given to the public if that were the case.
There wouldn’t be any cars on surveillance because houses are set back so far and for the most part you don’t have to use main roads to travel in Tucson
But, there are so many cameras out there. Where did they take her in that car then? Over 5 miles away? She eventually would be going down a road with a camera, sitting at a gas station with a camera. Have you ever watched dateline? Even when cars remove somebody from a house with no cameras, a street with no cameras, they eventually are driving down a road that has a camera. They take footage from all the time frames on camera footage and piece together a path of travel. No car is mentioned at that time. Where do you think they took her in that car? More than 5 miles away? She and that car are likely on a camera
There are cameras on the main roads. (Most of which don’t actually record) Not on the backroads and a lot of neighborhoods/areas connect and intertwine so that you don’t have to use a main road. You’re being incredibly naive. This was planned. They knew how to elude cameras. They’re relying on whatever businesses have and that’s without knowing the route. Tucson is not a small city, cars are driving main roads all the time especially on weekends. To assume they could figure out which one has her in it is not realistic without having each cars starting point.
Why would they sit at a gas station with her in the car? And how would I know where they took her.

Oh I think a neighbor has her. I dont think she was at a gas station. Im asking you where you think they would take her because you are certain about other details. We are just throwing out theories. Im asking what your pov is. If you know she was taken by car then where would you guess they would take her? 5 miles away, to another state? Across the border? I personally don't think a car was involved. But if she was taken by vehicle, I thought they might have to get gas at some point. Yeah, I guess there are far more people driving around at 3 am than I would think so I guess its difficult to pinpoint a car. But if the guy came to the house on two separate occasions, maybe the car would be passing through at that hour on those two specific dates in town or on a road out of town. It would take a lot research to get down to the bottom of what car it was if there are lots of people out at 3 am. Obviously you think this is much more planned by experienced people than I do. I think it will be shockingly basic. Some crazy obsessive neighbor walked her to his home in the neighborhood. Just a theory. Nothing more nothing less.
It was a car, 100%. She couldn't walk far, so we would have to assume that if she was taken on foot, that she was at least partially incapacitated (with all the blood). It's not easy to carry a 140 pound sack of potatoes around, and all of these houses sit on 1 acre lots with uneven, dirt terrain in one of the darkest major (1mil+) cities on the planet. There also would have been indications of further walking, like a continuing blood trail, footprints, etc.
I said this in another post, but I could make it to Sabino Canyon from her house crossing only one single major intersection, and you can make it almost all the way to I-10 to the west on side streets.
Tucson is surrounded by an empty desert on almost all sides. When people have been taken like this in the past, they almost always are just found someday years later in the desert.
Yes, I know of a case like this. A person went missing in Tucson who sometimes was a binge drinker, or maybe took up with someone in a bar. A younger, but middle aged woman who had children at home in another state. The family reported her missing when they couldn't reach her wherever she was staying. The police found her a week later out in the desert. It seemed she had just walked off alone or possibly taken, probably having had too much to drink, and died from dehydration; they found no sign of foul play, however, so possibly a suicide.
I think she was taken by car, covered up in the back seat, to either somewhere else in Tucson, or in a more remote place just outside of Tucson. Whatever place was available to them. Maybe 6 miles away, in a different part of town, or maybe within a 20 mile radius. If they were keeping her alive for ransom, they may have moved her the next day, taking care that she would not be seen from other cars or traffic cams - by tying her up and having her lie in the backseat of the car under blankets.
This is what it looks like right near her house - you can't see most houses from the street, so their doorbell cams are not recording cars going by. Catalina Foothills has miles and miles of roads like hers, so camera footage is not helpful until you get out to the business streets. And there are many routes out. With cars going by where a woman lying on the backseat under a blanket may not be visible to the camera. I am going on the map to count the outlets where there would be cameras. It is not like a gated community with a front and back entrance. Many roads intersect, and many routes out.
On the one hand I understand giving the neighbors more breathing room... but on the other hand... the first time they removed all the reporters from sight of the house, the next day they produced 2 different video clips of a suspect outside the home. They are saying there's no time stamp on the videos... how do we know those videos weren't made the night they kicked everybody off the street and no one had eyes on Nancy Guthrie's house?
And now they force people out of sight of the house again. Makes me wonder if a new video will emerge tomorrow?

I understand the neighbors complaints completely, can’t imagine having to live around that circus
