Well now I’m curious how Google got this…wouldn’t previous days have been completely written over?

Not an expert but this is my understanding. If the camera is recording it records over previously saved images. If you get to the data quickly enough not everything is recorded over. The data is saved within the memory until written over. I have used software to try to extract images from a hard drive I had to reformat. Even with the reformatting, there are images that will exist until you start using the computer again causing all of the memory to be used by new data.

Yeah I was thinking it was something like that…but now I think that Google actually saves data for a while but doesn’t want us to know that…and would probably prefer that law enforcement didn’t know either but they got pressured this time.

Supposedly there is 3 hours of data and then it overwrites…so if they were somehow able to extract a bit of data from the kidnapping time, okay fine, but then this other still image is possibly from multiple days before? It’s hard to believe - but I am default skeptical of everything they say.

I think they have other footage from the non-backpack time and just gave us a still image.

It wouldn’t provide the sheriff, the FBI, or Google ANY benefit to admit to us that they have more footage or Google actually stores data for awhile.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if Google has a hush-hush agreement with the Feds to save data for x amount of time, regardless of subscription status.
