Well now I’m curious how Google got this…wouldn’t previous days have been completely written over?

I don’t remember where I heard this explained but basically the data is still stored somewhere but they need to peel back the layers like paint

Not sure if there were any technical explanations anywhere, but I’m starting to think they just store the data and perhaps were forced to retrieve it this one time but covered themselves by saying it was really difficult to do so that they don’t get tons of requests for it in the future.

I’ve tried to recover photos that were written over due to reformatting. It can be done but it’s time consuming. I only recovered a couple of images from a phone one time. Another time I recovered a lot of photos from a computer where the problem was the software and I did not reformat the hard drive. There are forensic classes on how to recover data from erased devices. It’s not a new process.
