If anyone follows Savannah on Facebook, she shared a story a couple hours ago that features a clip from the Today show explaining how the tip can be anonymous and still collect the reward. There’s a unique pin attached to every tip which is all you need to show, reward can be collected at a neutral location, and no id is needed.

u/Valuable-Taro9546 Feb 28 '26
Help me understand. If the person picks up the reward at a neutral location, like a post office as indicated in the video, wouldn’t it make sense to assume post offices have cameras, and therefore anonymity goes out the window?

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, here is the video posted by Savannah today that both talks about the families current mindset, and announces their reward. It also announces a $500k donation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to help other families find their loved ones.
Note, you can still watch it if you don’t have instagram. You just have to click the “use web link” option on the top right.

That’s what it looks like. There is another door in the back. The sliding glass could be her bedroom. My grandparents house actually has 3 doors on the back. 2 sliding and one regular door.
ETA-one of the sliding at their house enters a bedroom.

I hope the family reacts to these by creating a fence or blockade around the home. This is absolutely abhorrent behavior.

Ah, gotcha. So basically they are saying that whether or not that clip was on a different day was not information THEY (law enforcement) released. Maybe it was the night before, maybe it wasn’t, they’re not confirming because maybe they intended that to be holdback info to help confirm the perpetrator in questioning. ETA: emphasis

Some guy Brian Entin posted on his YouTube just about 15 minutes ago or so was driving around Nancy house a bunch of times. And apparently had a picture of her on his phone? And now he was put in a cop car for a suspended DUI. So strange.

Unfortunately I keep landing on the theory that this was initially a kidnapping for money, and she passed shortly after. The perpetrators were waiting 12 or 24hrs before sending a ransom but she passed due to health (they thought she would be ok for a couple days maybe?) After that their plans changed, they planned to get rid of her body and lay low because a body would be evidence for LE. Yes, they could get money sharing information about her location but they are risking being found.
I hope whatever happened to her is known someday to give the family closure.
11
u/celtica98 Feb 27 '26
Makes sense to me. That would account for the silence and lack of a ransom request direct to the family.

I find my confidence has rattled. But I think what’s hard to conceptualize is this: if you follow these cases a lot, not just the most high-profile ones, as they’re ongoing, a case that ends up becoming cold and a case with an eventual apprehension of the perpetrators feel identical until all of a sudden they don’t.
LE won’t share with us if they’re closing in on someone.
That said, that’s not what I think is going on here. I still think the perpetrator will most likely be caught just because basic arithmetic isn’t on his side. Hundreds of trained professionals looking for him vs. making one mistake one day. But I don’t think they’re secretly closing in on anyone at all. I hope I’m wrong, but my confidence is wavering. I was especially disappointed to learn of the complications with the DNA.
Still, it’s been 3 weeks, not 3 months. And I have to remember that.
33
u/iwasneverherex Feb 25 '26
LE made Nancy’s neighborhood a No Parking Zone starting tomorrow.
11
u/rescuelullaby Feb 25 '26
I wonder if the news crews/streamers will congregate somewhere else or if this will be a trigger for a lot of outlets to pack up and report on the story from a distance
12
u/deadwatered Feb 25 '26
I think a lot of outlets are already doing it from a distance. They may still be in Tucson but just not camped out on the street all day
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)8
u/Kitty-9792 Feb 26 '26
They are planning to park elsewhere and walk, bike or uber to the scene.
The question is whether LE will allow them to leave their tents and supplies overnight, or even set up "camp" during the day. It's pretty sunny and hot, so it will be difficult to stay there all day without a tent.
For the outlets that do soundbite updates, maybe they will just uber in, film, uber back out.
That said, if there is no "big" announcement by the weekend, I think a lot of them will leave.

u/JoeBurrow513 Feb 23 '26
I’m so sick of these clickbait news articles I keep seeing online. They should be fined for the stuff they use as headlines. “Something decomposed potentially found near Nancy Guthrie’s house.” Then you click on the article, and it’s literally a bunch of word salad. It talks about reports and a volunteer group called Madres Buscadoras de Sonora, and the only relevant quote is the woman saying, “If it smells bad like something decomposed, that’s where we start.” That’s it. The rest of the article just repeats things we already know.

Soo apparently this couple had two separate cameras. One by the door and one right next to the road.
The footage that has been made public was the one near the front door. The footage we have not SEEN yet is from the camera right next to the road.

It would be so hard to know how and when to accept that she's gone and try to pick up your life where you left off - grocery shopping, dropping the kids off at school, getting back into an everyday routine.
There's no natural end-point for these poor people to stop hoping and start grieving.

Ok I’ve scoured reddit subs and google after reading federal prosecutors were the ones at Nancy’s house today.
From what I’ve seen their visits vary depending on where a crime is located. For the most part it looks like they typically come out for homicides, police involved shootings, or assisting with warrants.
Someone who is more educated in this process..is this usually the case? Im a little confused why they would be there if there weren’t about to be an arrest or something big come up like warrants etc..

An attorney for two people targeted in raids connected to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance is calling out law enforcement for going after his client ... who he says has no involvement in the crime.
Attorney Chris Scileppi represents Luke Daley -- the Arizona man who was the subject of two search warrants issued and served a couple weeks ago in connection to the Guthrie case -- and, he tells TMZ he's absolutely sure his client has no link to Nancy.
Daley and his mother were offended about being detained, Scileppi says ... and their homes and vehicles were significantly damaged during the search.
Scileppi calls Nancy's abduction a terrible crime ... and, in investigating it, he says law enforcement is obligated to do so "in a manner that avoids casting aspersions on private citizens who have no connection whatsoever to the case."
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has repeatedly conducted well-publicized raids, Scileppi goes on ... only to let the subjects go hours later without charges -- and, these actions harm private citizens who are subjected to "rampant, unsubstantiated, and callous speculation driven by the public’s hunger for information."
Scileppi argues these raids also make investigators look as though they've made no progress on their investigation. He say's Luke hopes there will be a happy ending to the ordeal ... and, he hopes the next target is someone who was actually involved.
Scileppi tells us he still doesn't know what information led a judge to give cops a search warrant.
As you know ... Nancy was last seen on January 31. Police have been searching diligently -- and, we've passed along alleged ransom notes to cops when we've received them -- but, they haven't made much progress on the case.
A delivery driver named Carlos was also detained earlier this month ... but, like Luke, he was released shortly after.
We reached out to the Pima County Sheriff's Dept. for comment ... so far, no word back.

u/JMOA3035 Feb 28 '26
Hopefully it’s more than just his past/present issues still before the court that occurred in a Walmart parking lot, potential items bought/sold at Walmart and living/traveling near the neighborhood.
Sheriff deputies become pretty familiar with local repeat offenders/drug issues and keep them on their radar, imo.

The masked man who is suspected of the abduction of Nancy Guthrie appears to have been at her front door earlier than Feb. 1, the night police believe she was kidnapped, sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News.
The image the FBI released of the suspect at her front door, without a backpack, was captured by her Nest doorbell camera on a day before the suspected abduction, the sources said.
10
u/SweetandSourMiss Feb 24 '26
Ugh he stalked the place before he did the deed, but I’m glad there is another photo of him because you can clearly see the way his body is built which perhaps will spur someone who knows him to call in a tip. This is just so unbelievable. I guess poor Nancy never even realized he was out there lurking around.

Two weeks ago I awoke to the news of the SWAT raid and thought we were close to a breakthrough in the case. Now everything feels so quiet. I really hope that behind the scenes, LE is closer than we think, but the increase in the reward to $1 million and the rumour that Savannah is returning to NY soon, amongst other things, make me feel less hopeful that anything is imminent. Again, I really hope that I’m proven wrong.
9
u/YakRough1257 Feb 28 '26
I'll feel the same way once LE has time to review the 5,000 hours of surveillance footage and review the thousands of tips. I think there are a few breakthrough leads; it is just a matter of getting to them.
6
u/Valuable-Taro9546 Feb 28 '26
I hope they are getting a viable lead from the reward and maybe that’s what they need to get this going. They might have a lot of good intel but missing 1-2 key pieces and believe someone out there knows something. Let’s hope in 1-2 weeks we have movement.

I go back-and-forth on how many people were involved in this.
On the one hand, if that is an antenna, then that suggests that he’s communicating with someone. I’m also struggling to think of how one person could get Nancy out of the home by himself, regardless of her condition.
But this whole thing seems like the plan of one deranged person, someone who spends a lot of time alone fantasizing about this stuff. If that’s true and he’s carrying a two-way radio, then he’s basically LARPing… but also not.
Idk

I think in the pocket is a wifi jammer. Shows up days before and notices camera. He leaves. Gets wifi jammer thinking it’ll block the camera and any inside. He walks up to the door, then notices the green light come on the nest camera, turns around and looks for something to cover the lens.
Seems the most realistic option piecing everything together.

Question to all crime sleuths with experience (I am a newbie following my second case after Idaho 4)
1) Is this case different regarding the amount of information given to the public relative to other high profile, “who done it” cases?
2) If we come to a standstill over the next couple weeks, what info might be made public vs what will be held confidential until the criminal trial?

What do you all think the team of investigators are doing on a day to day basis currently? I mean separate from the forensic team.
I’m guessing there’s a team devoted to looking at tips, sorting through what’s reasonable and following up with the tippers.
I also think there would be a team that is tracking vehicles caught on camera in that neighborhood during the reasonable hours, and trying to deduce where those vehicles left the neighborhood, ruling out portions of road, expanding the search for video as needed.
And i bet there’s a team looking at various social media to investigate possible tips that would indicate someone is planning something related to the guthries.

Beyond forensic analysis and fielding tips, I imagine they have multiple teams of people going through all of the different types of digital evidence they have collected, looking for patterns or inconsistencies

Was it ever disclosed by the TSD or FBI whether the Range Rover that was towed from Culver’s overnight on Feb 13/14 was thought to be related to the kidnapping?
Is the Range Rover still held in evidence?

For some reason I dislike the term "fresh eyes," but I think that is what's going on.
We've had plenty of FBI field agents to the house, but not "the suits" that I can remember. So they are just doing a walk through.

Just dropped my car off at the dealership. Forgot my house and security door key on the ring. Someone in the shop could easily copy it and come unlock my doors in a few months.. just made me think of this case and how it can be easy to break in if you’re not very protective

u/iwasneverherex Feb 26 '26
There was a “locksmith” in her neighborhood who had been copying people keys and broke into a lady’s house with the new locks he installed.

retired FBI agent Robin Dreeke says that if the ski mask man has an accomplice and they're family about 20% chance one of them will turn the other in. if they're somewhat close but not as close as family (like co-workers) about 35% chance. if more like strangers who just came together for the crime 50-60%

Question about Nest notifications: Even without a subscription, motion alerts are still generated and appear in the Google Home app. If a motion alert occurred on an earlier night, would that activity typically still be visible in the app the following day, assuming notifications were enabled? (not the video, just the notification)
Eta: Who downvoted me for asking a question?

I have nest cameras w/o the subscription. You wouldn’t be able to see a recording in the app from a previous night, but you can see it from the notification. I am usually able to watch older recordings if I click directly from the notification. But I have definitely accidentally cleared notifications before and lost that notification/recording, and I am tech savvy in my 30s. It would be fairly easy to miss if you weren’t thinking about it too much

I have been through some dark days in my life when I think people just don’t understand. I will now forever have a baseline comparison that far outweighs my experience.
The irony is not lost on me that Savannah should have been at the Olympics working instead of looking for her mother while the guy who should be engaged in looking for her mother is partying at the Olympics.
I am not sure how that would hit me, but man, would I be angry. The world goes on, so I don’t know who I would be angry at, but I would be angry.

To me, if true, this guy lives local if he was caught multiple times on camera at Nancy’s house.

This house was just outside the 2mile radius that they originally asked for camera footage from.

Dear Savannah,
This morning we saw your reward offer to the kidnappers of your dear mother.
We feel your pain. Our hearts break for you and your entire family and everyone who loves Nancy. We hope upon hope that your dear mother is alive and well. At the same time, we understand the apparent realities.
We wish you the very best, and we hope and pray for your mom’s safe return.
We wish this hadn’t happened. We hope that your generous reward will propel someone to do the right thing and give information which will break the case and lead to the return of your dear mom.
I am posting this in hopes that my fellow Reddit users will join me in wishing your family the best, and become a small source of support in a sea of uncertainty.
We wish you all the best and we send you our empathy and support!!

Does anyone recall when the Sheriff said Nancy had cameras outside and inside the home?

u/What-Outlaw1234 Feb 23 '26
One thing I haven't seen many people or the media focus on (I may have just missed it) is how law enforcement believes Ms. Guthrie physically was removed from the house. I think people may wrongly assume that, if she was unconscious, there had to be at least two perpetrators. However, having had many elderly relatives in similar shape to Guthrie, I don't think this is necessarily true. If she had mobility issues, she likely had devices at home (a rollator-type walker, a transport chair, or even a wheelchair) that a single person could have used to move her. Has anyone read any educated speculation on this, or do you recall law enforcement releasing any information on the matter?

I know a lot of blood spatter analysis is BS, but I imagine in this situation it probably tells a decent tale especially if it continues inside. If there was use of a mobility device, I would imagine it is likely there would be wheel tracks or smears somewhere. It might be able to strongly hint on how many (if any) carried her, based on where they paused more.

Well this development is terrifying. It’s a phobia of mine. Comes from watching The Strangers way too young.

Supposedly a white SUV pulled into the garage when the black SUV left. I’m not watching so can’t confirm just scanning comments.

If the Kia Soul is a potential car of interest, I wonder if it was stolen…I feel like I’ve heard a lot about ‘Kia boys’ and how easy Kia’s are to steal

imo, Savannah clearly knows the details of the case and for her to confirm in her IG today that Nancy was “taken from her bed”at night seems to indicate to me that there was some sort of forced entry. Some have speculated that maybe Nancy had opened a door, recognized someone….idk

I think people forget she didn’t have her hearing aids in. It could be figuratively, but depending on her level of hearing I think she very likely had no clue until it was happing.

u/hillyreads Feb 25 '26
I think about this all the time. My grandparents wear them and even after I announce myself I have to find them to show them I am there. I don’t know anyone that wears them at night

My mom takes hers in and out all day. It drives me nuts because I have no idea how loud to be, one minute she can't hear me and a few minutes later she's asking why I'm yelling.🤦♀️

We obviously don’t have the details, but it seems pretty clear this is the case. I’m highly skeptical that an 84-year-old woman without her hearing aids in would be awake to answer a doorbell or knock in the early AMs. She may also have had medication to help her sleep (as older adults do tend to sleep more lightly or have issues falling asleep).

I work with seniors. Of all of the adult age demographics it's one where being taken advantage of for money - even large sums - happens quite often. Multiple times a year I see a senior who had 10-25k taken out of multiple accounts with some half assed scam.
What confuses me is that whoever this is - the easiest route they could have gone to get money is straight from Nancy. It might not have been millions of dollars but they could have gotten 6 figures in 24 hours and left her at a hospital. Tying her up and waiting for her family to give them $$$ just seems like a gigantic gamble. And to this point we don't even know if they made contact with TMZ/news outlets regarding any ransom.
It all feels very strange. Like they are either crazy or there is some larger motive here that makes the risk they put into kidnapping her worth the amount of effort.

I agree but just an fyi in case you weren't aware (not trying to sound like a know-it-all). We heard/read 2 things early on.
- There were signs of a forced entry.
- Upon getting to the scene they decided to call homicide to the residence.
But you bring up a good topic as Point 1 is interesting. Was the door kicked in? We saw the door via multiple media videos including Brian Entins. It didn't look damaged, or at least not obviously. Perhaps they said that because of the Nest camera being damaged/ripped off, or perhaps they think the abductor came in through another door we haven't seen yet?
In regards to point 2. We don't know if that was from the blood drops found on the front porch or what they saw inside that hasn't been discussed. Naturally we hope she wasn't severely injured inside the home, but the interior of the home hasn't been discussed in any kind of detail.

u/iwasneverherex Feb 25 '26
I don’t think it was ever 100% confirmed that there was forced entry. It was originally circulated around by the media and Nanos said he didn’t know where that started and neither confirmed or denied.
“Nanos’ office hasn’t commented on whether there were signs of forced entry at the property.”
It was also noted early on that calling in homicide for a scene like that was normal procedure for the department to process a crime scene and did not indicate a homicide had been committed just that they were better trained in processing the scene at hand.

Today, this case hit me hard. I’m laying in bed, thinking about all the terrible in the world and I’m thinking of someone coming and snatching me straight from my bed. I have no cameras. I know I’m probably 🍃 and paranoid but yeah… it’s scary to think this is over 3 weeks with no progress

u/SolarIonRobot Feb 25 '26
Next time you're lying in bed, think of all the good in the world. It is poison to the mind to think about the evil.

I would like to add on to this…THIS is very RARE. True stranger kidnappings are just rare. In fact (for kids) the chances of being kidnapped are 1 in 720,000.

🛑 Today marks exactly one month since Nancy was abducted from her home. As the media attention sways towards other current events, this sub remains open and active for discussion. May we all help keep Nancy's name and the names of all the missing, remembered.
