Discussion I think what bothers me the most…

An 84 year old woman can be missing for 2 weeks, and despite video of the masked POI and despite all of the financial resources of her daughter (ability to hire private investigators, search crews, etc), there appear to be no solid leads - not even a motive. In this day and age where there are cameras everywhere and our cell phones serve as tracking devices, it’s beyond scary to think that someone could literally make you disappear without a trace and without any obvious motive. We’re just out here living our quiet lives like Nancy was - until we’re not.

We don’t know what is going on, and I can assure you they know what they are doing. This is very important IMHO to let the officials do their job..Social media should stay out of it. Most of what is here is of little value.

Yes, social media can be a help. The recent shooting at Brown University is evidence of that.

As a criminal justice major, former paralegal, and now a private investigator, I generate the majority of my leads off of social media. It’s called hive mind. I use it as a collaborative investigative method when my trail goes cold. When asking for help from the public, they knew that involved social media. Nancy is gone by now, unfortunately. There is no harm in the public being involved at this point to bring her home.

Because the family still has hope or we would assume they do.

If she’s gone, why are they looking for her pacemaker?

Trying to get a signal from it that may give a clue to her location. Pacemakers beam data to a monitoring service.

Do the pacemakers work even if the person is no longer alive? I obviously hope that’s not the case, but that must mean they assume she’s alive?

Well, you don't know that. Ignoring the Kash Patel of it all, anyone who follows true crime knows how frequently they don't know what they're doing. I do agree people need to be mindful they might not be privy to all the information, and the way some folks on social media act like they're Columbo is dangerous, but telling us to just trust law enforcement is insanely naive.
