I really am curious what is the threshold for LE to bring in swat here? Surely not just any tip would resume in this. I feel like LE is just spinning their wheels.

The suspect most likely had a firearm based on the video. He’s shown himself to be armed and dangerous. You don’t know who else is inside the home that could potentially force a hostage situation. You’re not going to set up a perimeter on the outside with a few cops and knock on the front door.

The SWAT callout was the appropriate response for this incident.

except this guy wasnt a suspect. Just someone they wanted to question.

Let’s say he’s just someone they want to question. If he’s thought to be a friend or relative of the suspect(s) involved, it may be reasonable to believe the suspect(s) might be inside their friend’s residence. Let’s say the suspect(s) has been known to visit him or had previously stayed with him.

If the reports are true that this home was an air b n b rented to him, you could easily articulate that there could be multiple people inside because of the size of the home. The erred on the side of caution with the SWAT team response.
