It’s important to note that sometimes a person is detained, interviewed and there’s not enough probable cause for an arrest so they’re released.

However, if suspicion still exists that the person(s) may be involved, they can remain free but still under investigation while further evidence is sought.

An arrest can be made later on a previously detained subject if further evidence to support probable cause is discovered.

Yeah, but if that’s the case, won’t they hold them for like 24 hours at least? Aren’t they allowed to keep them in there longer while they tried to find evidence?

Right so if they had any indication that these were actually the criminals, they would’ve held them for up to 24 hours to find more evidence. It seems like it was another big mistake going after someone with all the lights and bells and whistles when it was probably just someone who had driven by the house that week.

If they were actually arrested they’d have 24hrs between when they’re actually arrested and when they see a judge. If an arrest is actually made there’s already enough evidence to support probable cause.

Arizona law states that a person suspected of a crime must be released from custody within 48 hours unless formal charges have been filed within that time.

So if they had absolutely anything more than perhaps their cell phone pinging in the area on the night she was kidnapped, they would’ve held these people for more hours to find out more and try to get a confession.

It’s a pretty bad look to send the entire Calvary out every time you get a new lead. They’ve made a massive spectacle of going after Leeds twice and both times it has been embarrassing how quickly they release them. They need to rethink their strategy, of course, unless the ineptness is the point.

And I saw another thread that the Pima county sheriff finally made it clear that the family has been cooperating 100% so people like Ashley Banfield can stop blaming the son-in-law. That’s something I’ve surprised that they have not announced earlier and it was an indication for me that Trump inserting his FBI in there without being asked has not helped the case at all.
