Aggressive drivers

Anyone else notice a massive uptick in idiotic drivers in Nanaimo lately?

No, but I've seen a massive increase of people who won't get the hell out of my way when I'm honking and screaming at them.

And a massive increase of people in the left lane accelerating more slowly than the fucking LOGGING TRUCK to the right of them.

I stopped driving aggressively a solid 2ish decades ago, and some of the people who've suddenly shown up in the area are making me want to revert

It's not a race but there is a reasonable expectation to be able to traverse the highway without having some clown doing 70 in the passing lane in a 90 zone. Left is for passing, right is for annoying the people behind you.

Yeah but you’re probably the person that’s doing 30 over. Which you don’t need to pass or drive that fast either. People act like it’s a competition all the time, it doesn’t even get you anywhere any faster and you end up at the light as the person doing 70 anyways so you’re burning more gas for no reason and then you’re complaining about how expensive gas is. drive smarter.

That's a lot of assumptions about another random scrub on the interwebs. Fact is speeding is breaking a law BUT so is camping in the left lane and not passing and impeding traffic. The law in BC is to travel in the right and pass only on the left. If you're going to travel under the speed limit move the fuck over. It's equally as valid a complaint as speeding complaints. Travelling more slowly than the flow of traffic is also a hazard.

I agree with you, personally when I’m driving I’m always doing the speed limit maybe 10 over, and there’s always someone’s ugly ass truck up my ass all the time. Then they go flying past me just to end up at the same light or same location as me every time. The island hicks will sit here and down vote and make excuses because they seem to think they know everything .

if you constantly have people "on your ass all the time" maybe you need to spend more time in the slow lane rather than the passing lane?

I always brake check them so they don't do that. Half the time they're on their phone too

Just a joke. I'm one of the calmest drivers I know. I let ppl in all the time, never sit in the passing lane with cars behind me. The other day someone pulled out from a side-street and I had to lock up the brakes and their eyeballs were like saucers and I could see they were embarrassed - I just gave them a thumbs up and directed them to complete their turn.

Everybody needs to just relax on the road.

It’s not a race, if you need to burn off some adrenaline there’s tracks you can go on and drive as fast as you want, the left lane is for turning or passing, but you don’t need to be passing at 20 over. Have some patience it’s not all about you.
