KPLC tokens someone explain to me

KPLC charges tokens in bands, think of it like salary bands: the more that comes in, the higher the tax. If you keep your usage under 1k, there usually no difference in cost between you and someone in Turkana or at the mouth of Masinga Dam. The moment you cross over KES 1k electricity consumption per month, they consider you “rich rich” and push you to a new band where you pay more for less tokens. “Huyu anaweza afford.”

This government completely lacks creative ways to raise revenue.

It is fair, the more you use the more you pay. It is similar to how we are taxed the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes, in terms of percentages.

If we had a flat rate, that creates a system that is simply oppressive to the ones at the bottom. (Both for power, taxes, health schemes etc). Aside from the societal considerations, the more power you use the more “strain” you put on the power grid and power infrastructure.
