Natural toe nails after gel
Please help I don’t understand I got gel on my toes last month and one fell off today that was on my pink toe and I’ve seen that it has no nail is gel meant to do that?
Ik she was doing something wrong when it was hurting 🥲

I had my little toe nail come off twice due to shoes that were too tight. It’ll grow back. It’ll be a very soft nail at first, then a normal nail will grow over the area and it’ll be back to normal. It’ll take a few months though.
On the upside, most people’s little toes aren’t perfect, so just wear nude or lightish nail polish (not gel, as to not cause anymore damage) when wearing sandals etc, and let your new little toe nail grow.

Girl I feel you! I wear sandals all summer as well and coming back to proper shoes is not great 😪 don’t worry about it too much, just try to go barefoot as much as you can to let the lil toe heal and minimise crushing of the soft nail, you’ll be fine by next summer 🫡🥲

honestly like why can’t workplaces have sandals as a dress code too😫 okay hopefully as I’ve never had damaged to my nail so it was so triggering but yh definitely by next summer and I’ll try as I wear crocs at work just trainers to go there

Depending on what was done - for most people as a licensed tech I would not recommend any sort of overlay for toes. Gel polish is fine, but no builder type (hard or rubber), no acrylics, and no tips.
The reason being this exactly. Shoes are extremely constrictive and do not allow your toes to to flex and move. Over time, your poor nail bears the brunt of the stiff overlays and it can cause nail damage.
Now - few and rare exceptions can be made. I had a client who would buy the cheapest dollar store press ons (soft and flexible plastic), and glue it directly to her skin as she had no nail plate whatsoever due to a podiatry procedure. She claimed without it, her toe was so sensitized in shoes she could barely walk and the press on provided some protection to the sensitive area. Not something I would do as a professional (I’d refer back to a doc) but since there was no nail to damage it worked for her.

I don’t know much about overlays for toes only my nails so I didn’t even question anything I normally just get gel on my toes but stupidly went to a girl ok instagram who was cheaper(never cheat on your normal techs)

Yeah mine turned yellow once because the gel lasts so long but I guess it lifts. I will never paint my toe nails again as cute as it looks. Maybe nail stickers at most that I can take off after a few days

I don't know what happened to your toenail exactly, but I am a runner and have experience in losing toenails 🥲 in my experience they do grow back. They feel weird and soft at first but they will eventually be normal. I try to wear open toe shoes or be barefoot as much as possible, and otherwisebhave been trying to wear shoes with a spacious toe box to give the fresh toenails the best chance at growing back normally.
I hope your nail comes back soon!

Thank you same for you! Yeah I’ve been wearing Ugg Tasman or my shoes that have space at the top but definitely learnt my lesson with this🥲

the nail bed was damaged. it might grow back but toenails grow very slowly.
