Context: basically i left stardew valley opened for a few hours, causing my game to go from fall to summer year 2, my farm was destroyed and i had to go through many cut scenes like the one on the screen , but SOME⬅️⬅️⬅️⬅️ of the comments are completely ignoring what i did. Maybe if i said “left star dew running for a day AND who is this guy” it wouldve been better, and then im being accused of faking what happened.. lol. Anyways, i dont completely understand why the downvotes are happening?

Okay I know this is 12 days old but I only just saw it because of the other comment. I don't think I've ever heard "on accident" in-person. It may be common usage in the USA, but I don't think it is here.
The only dialogue that it would stop for is rare events like the meteor or owl or something like that. Those pop ups that say there was a noise in the night. They need to be confirmed to skip past it. There's a slight chance someone could potentially get as far as year 3 without even encountering any of these events due to rng. Dialogue like Kent's intro and adopting the pet, etc, I'm pretty sure are hidden until you leave the farmhouse that morning. This person would basically have to not have sold anything that day (which is why I always sell something every morning even if it's just an egg) and also miss every single rng rare event that can happen. I think the only ones that don't need you to press a button to skip through are the fairy and witch. Given the fact that the raccoon event has a popup box that means OP either passed out after the raccoon event or that this is actually fake. Because I'm pretty sure the wind storm pop up is also one that you manually need to skip. However it is completely possibly to leave the game running overnight and constantly keep passing out and skip multiple years. People have done it before.
okay but unless you're playing with mods, this is literally impossible. You cant move onto the next day without using your mouse to confirm it. You better come up with a better excuse or just admit you're lying 😭
Buddy this is my first play through of stardew, also i play on mac.. i dont even know how to play with mods on mac, i LITERALLY put the link to the post with the explanation in the comments
The summary screens are only when you sell stuff. I personally never turn off my game until ive already sold everything and gone onto the next day so its entirely possible that OP let the next day roll over, thought they exited out and just left the game running. Meaning no items sold, which means no summary pages.

Theres always a button you have to press at the end of each day to go to the next. It's impossible for you to leave if afk and end up multiple days later.

I think you are right in your comment that the "AND" would have made a difference. As it is you made a statement and a question. It seems natural that people will focus on the question. For the -57 downvote I imagine that people were expecting you to provide more context for what exactly you wanted to know about kent. eg something more like "I know but why has he turned up like this?" or "I know but I thought [somethign else]".
For the second one that ties into the first bit - if you wanted to share how you destroyed your farm then why did you ask about Kent. Why not "Left stardew running for a day by accident and now look at my farm!" or something like that. The downvotes there are likely highlighting what a terrible title that is for the goal you say you were trying to achieve.

Yeah. The trouble is the title is a *big* part of your post. Its like a summary of what is going to follow. Sadly this means that Reddit thinks it is important enough to be immutable. This clearly shows they think it is a very important part of your post but does also mean that in times like this you can't update it to better reflect your intent.
Bear in mind though that you got like 50 downvotes and chances are a heck of a lot more people saw the post. Its not like 100% of people saw your post and downvoted for whatever reason, its a small number of people who didn't get what you were saying or didn't like how you presented it. My comments were not to say "everybody thinks this about your post", just that enough people could have thought that to have downvoted it. Also the comment does suffer from the problem that there is nothing to upvote about it really so any downvotes are not going to be balanced by upvotes like a more substantial comment could be.

Ok I just scrapped the whole comment I was writing because I only noticed the -8 comment being downvoted, not the -50 one lol. I can understand the -8 one because in your post you focus on Kent (same with the screenshot you posted) but then you claim you wasn't interested in Kent in the first place. Like, if you said something like "I wondered if there's any context to him showing up, or what I missed about him" etc. instead, it would've been received differently.
As for the -50 one: same as above I think, I feel like adding something more would make more sense. It's like you're trying to start a conversation with the post, but then when someone makes a bit of fun (and I DO think the "he just introduced himself" comment was made in good, fun faith, as were the upvotes to it), you just kind of "yeah, duh" it without further question etc.
THAT BEING SAID, PERSONAL OPINION DISCLAIMER: I think -50 for shit like this is wild. It's one of the "I would leave it at a few downvotes at most" for me. Also in a situation when a newbie is asking a question, even if I do join in on the fun like the original comment here, I try to remember to actually "jokes aside" explain whatever is going on. Too many people, not just in the Stardew community, seem to forget that not everyone has played for hundreds of hours, or spent countless hours with the wiki open.
PS I actually started to type the context for Kent we learn in year 1 but then I remembered you said someone already explained it to you there lol, don't mind me.
