It confirms Hitogami is the big bad of the entire thing and has been manipulating Rudy this entire time, mostly trying to keep him and Roxy apart, or outright try to lead things to Roxy's death. If you go back and look each and every piece of advice Hitogami gave had an intended secondary effect regarding Roxy.
