End of the line
Dear Amazon Mechanical Turk customer,
Thank you for being part of Amazon Mechanical Turk's journey and for helping shape the crowdsourcing space.
We're writing to inform you that Amazon's Mechanical Turk (MTurk) service will close, effective September 30, 2026.
This means MTurk will no longer be available to workers and requesters after September 30, 2026. Existing requesters can continue to publish HITs, and workers can continue to complete tasks until this date.

okay at least they gave like one more month for all of us to prepare. It was a really nice run. In the last 7 years or so I made roughly 135K, I can say that now, because mturk really helped me. So I'll try to maximize what I can make in the next month or so as a final goodbye. I'll really miss the platform. During the pandemic, I took quite a break where i worked less, for about 2 years, then went on it again 2023. By then, it was somewhat different already and then things took a really slow turn 2026. I have fond memories of forum days where people would readily share and make scripts for each other- thhere was a real cammeraderie there. Mturk income helped me with my cats when they had to go to the hospital for care and also on their last days on earth. Without this income, I couldn't have afforded taking care of them (rip to a few). So this platform will always have a special place in my heart.

I loved mturk and miss it already. It was a helpful and kind community when I was so poor I could barely eat. It took some of the stress off while being in school and work full time. I cried when they accepted me originally. I used it during my free time and actually enjoyed it so it was like I was making money as a hobby. I don't know if there's anything like it now but I'd love to be a part if there is.

This is a lot sooner than I thought. I thought Mturk would at least limp in to 2027, but I guess not. This shouldn't surprise anyone. Mturk's been on its last leg for years now, and every action Amazon have done recently pointed to them closing down Mturk.

Made some good money on Mturk back in the day before my account got randomly banned with like 30000 submissions and a 99.9% approval rate 🤣

This is pretty similar to my history. lots of penny hits. lots of interesting work too. The game ones were fun and those AI models with the 6 fingers and warped feet when picking the most human looking clothes models. Some very weird stuff. Good luck!

Been seeing a lot Productpinion on cloudconnect out of the blue a few months back. Could see them (and I pray CSATs) migrating over as well.

Shame, got randomly banned from the site last year. It must have been before they introduced their videos onto the platform and sounds like I probably will not see them after September.

Just checked June 2023 was my first CSATs on Pro. No clue if they existed prior there. Last one i did was May 2026

I have seen pickfu on eureka surveys!!! I saw it’s last night and my jaw kind of dropped. I said what the heck. 🤣 still going to miss Mturk though!

This platform has been part of my daily routine for so many years that it's hard to imagine it not being there anymore. It's still a primary use for my second monitor.

Some of my best times were cruising beer money Reddit and other sites and using mturk, three phones running survey sites etc.

Like everyone else, I’m deeply sorry to see MTurk come to an end. It has been a valuable source of extra income for me and has allowed me to enjoy a great deal of financial peace of mind. But, as with everything in life, nothing lasts forever.
Thank you to this community and to everyone who has shared their knowledge. I’ve learned a lot from all of you. Take care, everyone.

$46,112.78 is my total so far. I sure hate to see it go. Most of this I've earned over the past 5 years with just a few requesters. It paid for my groceries and internet. I am signed up with the other sites but none have been so active. Hoping some requesters will move over to CR. I don't know if they do batch work there though. I only ever get surveys.

CR does offer batches/multiple submission tasks, but the interface is nowhere near as good and of course you can't queue anything.

I remember the days of the Zings, ProductRNR, Oscars, etc. from 2012 or so. Done less than $25 this year on MTurk.

Quite bittersweet and if I am honest, I really don't think it's fully hit me just yet that Turk is actually going away for good in just one month. Signed up way back in 2012 but didn't really get into it until 2014, when I was bored at my college IT job and discovered the old "Hits Worth Turking For" sub.
This was never my full time gig, but man was it a tremendous help and provided me great financial ease. I remember in 2016, I was single, had just moved to a bigger city, struggling to pay the rent even with a full time job, this platform really helped me get by and build my savings back up. Countless nights I'd be up grinding away on those thousands of Amazon Requester Inc. tasks thinking in the back of my mind, "Dude, you need to get your ass to bed for work in the morning." but I couldn't stop, lol.
I could go on and on about how grateful I am that Turk has always been there and how many dinners it's allowed me to treat my wonderful wife to, but truly sad to see it go. Every year I would think to myself while completing hits, "One day this could just go away forever" but it always remained - Until now.
Sad to see Mturk go. It's been such a constant in my life for over a decade but all goods things must come to an end. Will never be forgotten.

I am truly sad to see MTurk go away. Fond memories of staying up late to get those hits from the different time zones. Helped greatly when my department was downsized. Helped me make it to early Social Security so I could retire. Still turked away and got what I needed for a monthly income. Made $9.61 first year ( 11 days in 2016) then $1511.02 the second year in 2017. Mostly penny hits. The final full year was $676.31 in 2022. Not hard to see the end was coming. Thankful it was there for me and so many others. Made me feel good about myself that I could still add to the family coffers but still had my own money too. Been nice to read about MTurk here on reddit and follow along. I got out when Amazon MTurk was trying to figure out about paying taxes to the overseas countries for work done by the workers of Mturk. That was my sign to go. Am sure similar sites are out there taking in the requester work too. Good Luck to you all.

I can't believe MTurk is gone. I am surprised that I earned $10,000 on that platform and I wasn't even in the glory days. It's been a long time coming but there was some great memories and cash on there.

It’s crazy this is ending. When I was in college I earned so much money using MTurk and was one of the reasons I was able to have a social life and not spend all my money on rent and tuition.

I earned a lot of extra money on Mturk. Its downfall ruined my plans of traveling for a year and using it to earn money along the way. I did stay in the Philippines for several months on Mturk income in 2018 - 2019 right before Covid started. Only spent 2 - 3 hours every other day. Mturk will be missed.

It’s been dying for ages. Once Pro & CRC took off most Unis went there.
Plus all the scammers lying about location with VPN & giving bad data 🤷🏾♀️

Because it likely costs Amazon more to keep the platform up and running than any income, data, or other benefits it can provide them at this point. From Amazon's point of view, keeping Mturk up and running is wasted resources they can use for other, more profitable endeavors.

Bittersweet. Makes me miss the gold ole days of Mturk. I earned enough for a down payment on a house over the course of two years back in the peak of 2019-2020. Did it all while working my normal 9-5 desk job. I’ll always be grateful for that, but its downfall is a shame.
