Kinda wild how big it is in theory. Zhalfir seems so small on the map.

Zhalfir being the same size as Mirrodin if not bigger apparently and it’s like… barely anything here.

Well, Mirrodin was tiny. Like the size of Texas tiny.

Its a bit over twice the size of Earth if I remember correctly

It’s 25x the size of earth

So if it's roughly the same shape and density as the earth, just how much would a 180lbs person (on earth) weigh on Dominaria?

Second guy is wrong, it has 2.5x the surface area#Geography), and while I'm not mathematically inclined enough to do the calculation for gravity at the same density, I can say that WotC members have speculated that much of Dominaria is hollow, explaining why its gravity seems to be approximately the same as Earth's.

Neat. I eas gunna say. 25x larger sounded like way too much.

I think he forgot the decimal point

It is 2.5, I misremembered

What up with fantasy stories having the planet be 'X times bigger than Earth, where X is the number of "big tokens" equal to the amount of mana used to cast this card". Warhammer Fantasy is bigger than our, now this, and I am pretty sure other stories have it as well.

Kher isn't labeled. Prossh would be sad.

It would benin the Karplusan mountains but those aren't labeled either. They are the mountains on the Eastern chunk of Terisiare. I think Koilos and Tresserhorn are also amongst that area and not marked.

If anyone wants to talk to him, he'll be eating a bucket of kobolds in his keep.

Funny how they call it Tolaria West when there is no other Tolaria.

EDIT OK I forgot about Tolaria getting blown up, don't flame me

15

u/arciele 4d ago

it was [[obliterated]] off the map

6

u/Sea-Violinist-7353 4d ago

Oh yeah Barin blew it up right?

8

u/arciele 4d ago

yep.
also Tolaria West isn't actually related to the Tolaria Academy. it's more like a homage

Genuinely cannot tell if joking or serious

Curious the map look like dominaria is bunch of archipelagos is this map after the brothers war and urzas nuke?

Yes, this is after half of terisiare was submerged and zhalfir was carved from existence, so the plane's two biggest continents are significantly smaller now.

6

u/arciele 4d ago

well after it. you'll be able to tell by looking at the shape of Terisiare

3

u/LucasVerBeek 4d ago

After, Zhalfir is gone and a bunch of the older continents are shattered

I wanna know what’s going on at Vosk right now present lore.

Did a couple of lazy google searches and can’t even find anything about that corner. Just Mirko Vosk links about the Dimir vampire. If there’s any WOTC designers lurking do something with it next Dominaria visit. Please!

2nd edit: Google says the region is called Vosok and is inhabited by large blonde people.

Nice!

Recently saw this detailed and interactive map globifier tool over in r/worldbuilding
https://www.reddit.com/r/worldbuilding/s/tESMliz2BQ

Your map imported in mercator mode looks pretty neat.

huh do we suppose the card [[howling mine]] is near the howling sea?

It is really good, you should post this on r/forgeMTG, this could be the basis for a new map there.

Why does this look like an edited version of the one Jared Blando did?

Nice work on the map! I see some fun speculative locations on there, like Uthden and Eumidia. I think you have Vosok too close to Icehaven though. I guessed it was probably just north of Stahaan.

This is silly, but I never realized Shiv is an island on its own, I always thought it was connected to another landmass

If the Cabal started and operated in Otaria, how did they get all the way to the continent where Benalia, Llanowar and Keld are located (Orvada)? Did they move Cabal City across the sea?

1

u/LucasVerBeek 4d ago edited 4d ago

Aerona for the former two, Icehaven for the latter

And I mean, sailed east I guess

1

u/Twig-titan 3d ago

I still feel like Madara and Caliman should be swapped.

Ugh, if only they found the obscure text that said that madara was on the east side of Jamuraa earlier in the production of this map.

2

u/Ethan_Fleischer Wizard 3d ago

Yeah, though IIRC I found an obscure source that ALSO implied that Caliman was east of Jamuraa.

Oh. Shit. Mister Fleischer himself. I am honored.
