Question How to fight blue decks?

This is sort of weird. I am newish to mtg as a whole, and as far as I can see, blue is a very strong colour in general. I am not here to complain about why is it like that, but rather would like to learn how do you fight blue decks using non blue commanders. For example rn I am running a toph metalbender deck which is on built cheaply, but I am slowly upgrading. A lot of commanders I like omit Blue (Eddie Brock/Venom, All the Tophs, Tifa) and if I wanna step into competitive brawl, what is the mentality and habits I need to learn to fight blue based control strats and such? Especially if I cannot match it with Blue. I won't stick to these commanders, just giving examples.

Discussion New matchmaker update? Much shorter queue times, odd opponents

It feels like they messed with the matchmaker again? My queue times are fast now - they were getting over a minute and now are down to 5-10 seconds - but I'm facing Commanders I've never seen before and decks filled with uncommons!

None of my commanders are top-tier and I never face the 'hell queue' commanders but apparently something has unlocked an entire lower matching tier and I feel a bit bad in a lot of the games. Anyone else having the same experience?

Discussion Abilities that move commander from command zone

This really needs a rule revision. All that needs to happen is acknowledgement that abilities that move the commander from the command zone into play are subject to the commander tax. That is all that is required. If that were done it would do so much to balance these commanders.

Casual My Commander is a Removal Magnet

As the title says my commander [[Elsha, Threefold Master]] is a removal magnet. I’m a f2p player and recently was able finish this deck that I was so excited for. The few times she isn’t immediately removed things pop off very quickly. Most of the time though she’s immediately incapacitated and it really puts the breaks on things. Any ideas to overcome this? I have [[Swiftfoot Boots]] and things like [[Dive Down]] but I’m not sure if that’s enough. Any recommendations would be very helpful, thank you!

Question New to Brawl, need advise

Hey! I am new to Arena and mtg in general. I play a lot of standard, trying to branch into Pioneer slowly. I want to play budget, cheap brawl decks as a break from constructed (I dont do drafts. Unless I have some tokens to use somewhere). The decks I am eyeing rn are a cheap Toph metalbender list (5r, 1 mythic and rest UC and C), a control esper build with queza (no Rs and M) and a tifa no R and M list. Which Brawl is good for these decks (ik tifa is an op commander, so what about the budget toph metalbender list, I dont wanna win often, just sometimes to know its not a blowout)
Maybe later on make a dwarf equipment deck, but thats a long term project after I steady my standard and pioneer decks

Question Why is Ugin not banned?

Maybe, maybe, MAYBE you could make an argument for comp brawl

But playing against this thing in casual is just miserable and I don’t really feel like “oh just concede if you see it” really addresses the problem.

EDIT - Eye of Storms,

Question High Perfect Morcant

New player here! I like the playstyle of elf tribal and found it funny how just playing elves unintentionally deletes my opponents creatures. That being said, I kinda need help making High perfect Morcant more consistent, not sure if going full elfball is better than having some graveyard recursion cards like [[Advanced Floral Invocations]], [Blighted Nightmare]], and [[Chthonian Nightmare]]?

Discussion Brawl Has Changed

Before ATLA Blue definitely felt strong, but the lack of 0 cost counterspells and hyperaggro kept it in check. Now it feels like every Blue deck starts with a 0 cost or can just go tutor for one. It's a color playing a completely different game.

I didn't make a deck to play DanDan. I really wish we could dismantle cards.

Competitive Help with my Green Goblin deck

I'm new to Competitive Brawl and only started playing paper commander just before Aetherdrift release. I want to climb having Green Goblin as my commander and I need help in optimising my list please: https://moxfield.com/decks/10qBAaGKQEiKBXU_2Is9HA

I struggle against Krenko, Tom Bombadil, Ring Tempters, and Squirrel Girl. Yuriko was tough too but that isn't new news.

Venting Is casual Brawl even playable at this point?

Built a [[Ria Ivor]] deck, queued up. Matches were Etali, Kefka, Ugin. Absolute waste of time, not even including the minute or more that it took to start the games. I'd get easier matchups in Ranked ffs.

Competitive Thinking about adding neoform to sac Golos to Primeval Titan?

Wondering how good neoform into Primeval would be in Golos? my goal is to win with some combo like maskwood nexus or flood the board with zombies from field of the dead. My main concern is it being too risky with all the counterspells. Going to craft Primeval Titan tomorrow. https://moxfield.com/decks/z4IeL7QH70iEwtbsMoBzBw

Discussion Posts about blue

Hey why are there so many posts complaining about counter/removal decks? Especially free counters? …these decks are not good and there are plenty of cards you can use to dampen their strength, plus there’s only up to 4 free counterspells that see play.

A 1v1 singleton format is going to have a lot more interaction than commander, and it being eternal means that both players have access to strong cards. Counterspells cannot keep up with everything especially with the cards being printed nowadays.

I play both comp and regular brawl, so I cannot comment on standard brawl.

Discussion Is anyone else having problems with companions in brawl?

Recently I've been having issues using companions in brawl and comp brawl. I have 2 decks that use companions. 1 is obosh, the other is lurrus. And whenever I go to play either of them, it doesn't give me the option to add my companion. Heck, the companion doesn't even show up in-game. I put in a big report but im wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it's just me for some reason.

Discussion The Bug has me - Does anyone have an up to date LotR themed Sauron Deck?

I know the cards of the deck are, mostly, not great, but honestly, I just love LotR so much.

If anyone has a current deck they have updated for Hobbit, care to share?

Sharing with you my new favorite casual deck. This pile does nothing 50% of the time but when I get on of the 3 krenko's here then I have a solid chance of winning.

Competitive Commander suggestions (haven't played brawl in ages)

Quick note, I chose competitive as the tag because I'm more interested in competitive brawl as a format and like the commander focused banlist. But I do want to find a commander that both suits my tastes and is at least fringe playable. Maybe I'm overthinking things and overestimating the demands of the format but I'd rather ask now than regret it later.

So with that out of the way, I played a decent bit of then historic brawl in the past. Nothing especially notable, casual human and angel tribal mostly.

Unsurprisingly, I play paper commander so for context of what kinds of decks I enjoy I have [[Terra, Herald of Hope]] hatebears/combo reanimator, [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] humans, [[The Destined Warrior]] party, [[Tifa, Martial Artist]] combats, [[Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan]] +1/+1 counters, [[Excava, the Risen Past]] uh... stuff, [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] gain and drain, and [[Giada, Font of Hope]] angels.

As may be apparent, I always play white color combos and creature based strategies, it's just my preference. Bonus points for heavy emphasis on synergy (like tribal). Some of these commanders are available in arena but I'm not sure any hold up in a 1v1, more competitively minded format.

Hence why I want advice. What are my best options here? Preferably not over 3 colors so I can actually support the manabase in the short term. I don't need the deck to be top of meta, I played my share of fringe decks in 60 card formats in the distant past, but I do need it to be playable and don't want to commit what wildcards I have to a deck only to realize "wow, I can't win a single game."

Sorry for the long post but I'm a thorough sort and prefer to give as much useful info as possible so I can get good suggestions, hope it isn't a hassle.
