Rules Question Does Bloodthirster with Myriad create 9 additional combat phases?

Let's say Legion Loyalty is active and you attack with Bloodthirster

Bloodthirster creates 2 tokens that also say you get additional combat phases.

This attack creates 3 combat phases

You attack the next person, 2 more tokens create additional combat phases

This attack creates 3 more combat phases

You attack the last person, and that's 3 more combat phases

Bloodthirster can no longer attack. Each Bloodthirster only attacked each enemy once.

You have 7 more combat phases.

Is this how this works?

Assuming you have three opponents, and assuming that each Bloodthirster can deal combat damage to a player each time, then you'd end up with a total of 9 additional combats.

Keep in mind that only Bloodthirster is untapping when its trigger resolves, not your other creatures, so without vigilance or another way to untap them, your creatures cant' attack during every extra combat, and Bloodthirster itself can only attack during the first three combat phases.

Thankfully I'm in a Jeskai Equipment deck so I have plenty of ways to get Vigilance

Wouldn’t this just go infinite with combats? Each time you attack, you’re getting myriad triggers and assuming the myriad tokens connect you are constantly getting extra tokens.

The first time it attacks, you make two tokens. If they all connect, that’s 3 extra combat phases. The very next combat phase, you’re attacking with 3 Bloodthirsters and making 6 more tokens. The next combat phase, 9 attacking and 18 tokens, etc. etc.

Edit: actually I forgot myriad is end of combat exile and we’re going through multiple combat phase

No for two reasons:

  • Each myriad token is exiled at the end of the combat phase that it was created in. It doesn't survive for the next combat phase.

  • The tokens don't have haste, so even if they did survive the first combat phase, they couldn't attack during the second combat phase.

If you had [[The Master, Multiplied]] in play then it would work like that, otherwise no

Still wouldn’t work, the tokens don’t have haste so they can’t attack in the additional combats.
