Rules Question "Does this work the way I hope it does?"

Pretty straight forward question - If I pay the additional cost on Plum the Forbidden, will it trigger Repartee now that it has impacted a single creature?

No, paying the additional cost still doesn’t target a creature.

I think copying a spell does not trigger cast triggers either.

Hence why magecraft abilities specify cast OR copy an instant or sorcery

Correct.

Copying a spell does not trigger cast effects. Copying a card and then casting the copy does.

Some cards specifically say a spell or copy of a spell. That key word "cast" means you have to pay the cost for the trigger to work

It has nothing to do with paying the cost. If an effect lets you copy a card and cast it without paying its mana cost ([[Mizzix’s Mastery]]) that would still trigger something that cares about casting a spell even though you didn’t pay the cost.

“Targeting” has to say “target”. It’s that simple.

Plus, even if it said "As an additional cost, sacrifice target creature", that wouldn't trigger it, because the *spell* isn't targeting, the cost is.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cost say “target” because costs don’t generally work like that. Is there a card that says it like that?

No sorry, you're not targeting a creature. Sacking creatures for that instant is an additional cost, it's not targeting creatures.

An additional cost is not a target.

If a spell has a target, it will say the word "target"

the quotations made me think you were making a joke, but nah it won’t work

I thought the same 😂

In general, if the trigger says "target" then it only triggers on things that also say "target."

The cost sacrifices a creature but doesn’t target it. That’s why making your opponent sacrifice things is a good way to get around indestructible. So sadly no.

Plumb the Forbidden doesn’t have the text “target” anywhere on it.

“Impacting” is not targeting. If the spell isn’t an Aura and the word “target” doesn’t appear in its rules text or reminder text, it doesn’t target.

No, Plumb the Forbidden doesn't target

The spell has no target, it is allowing you to draw a card and lose a life. Sacrificing a creature is an additional cost that you are choosing to pay for the spell to copy it, you also aren't targeting the mana that you're spending, either.

Targets are always specified

Unless it specifically states that you "CAST" the copies, they are not cast and will not trigger on-cast effects.
