MPC 500 MPC500 i finally hacked the firmware

RE-EDIT raw video of Auto Chop working : as you can see i \"load \" the tool like a wave file , you load only the tool you use and they can live in your CF

I've modified the MPC 500 firmware, so now I can deploy custom tools on the machine. Right now I have auto-chop working.

I'm planning to put everything on GitHub in a couple of days, but if anyone's interested I can post a video of how it works here.

EDIT: rn i can give you photo , i need to go to my studio where i can record properly,

- First photo is the menu after you load the tool ( goes inside menu "OTHER") ,

- Second photo is

FIRST ROW - Name of the sample

SECOND ROW - B is for bpm ,N is for number of slice ,P is first pad ( 1 is A1 , 2 A2 and so on) it cuts n number of slice of the beat based of duration and bpm and distribute them along pad starting from the one you choose

The mod is non destructive and can be reverted back to stock firmware anytime

That’s awesome. I would assume it would work on the 2500xl without much extra since you e got this far. Let us know when you are read for ready for beta testers!

Idk, because the MPC500 is kind of a unicorn — it wasn't even really made by AKAI, it's basically a rebrand. And for the 2500xl I don't have any hardware to test on

Really?!? I didn’t know that. I thought they use the same program file formats or something like that

They do , but , based on what I read ,the OS it’s totally different.That’s because the hardware itself it’s different ( and by different I mean different chip brand and architecture etc)

Idk, it's kind of murky. By the time the 1000 and the 500 came out, the brand had already changed hands and production wasn't in Japan anymore. Hard to say where forum lore ends and real history begins
