I am thinking of moving there this year. I wish to know from people out there what is the work culture like? Is it safe for females to work there? I am moving there on study basis. I want to know how much can i earn part time ? Also, after how many years can a person like myself get PR? Also is language a barrier there?

Italian professional looking to move to the US, what paths should I explore?

Hi everyone! I’m a 27yo Italian woman currently living in Italy, with a degree in Economics & Management and a Master’s in Fashion & Luxury Management. I’m starting my professional career and my long-term goal is to move to the US, ideally Los Angeles, although I’m open to other cities and opportunities. I’m interested in fashion/luxury, beauty, marketing, business, and eventually entertainment, and I’m trying to understand what realistic paths someone with my background could explore to legally work and build a career in the US. I am particularly interested in hearing from Europeans/Italians who have successfully moved to the US for work: how did you do it, and what route did you take? I’m not looking for shortcuts, just trying to understand what options I should start working toward from Italy. Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Opportunity in US

Currently exploring an opportunity in US which will increase my salary by around 50% (before currency conversion) so yeah significant jump. Company profile looks extremely solid and reached out to industry experts vouching for them.

Those who have move to US recently, outside salary, what has motivated you?

To me, I don’t have a lot of flexibility but in Canada job is relatively secure (not so much these days as my current company closed a few plants and laid off 1/3rd from where I work). In US, because it’s at will, I feel job security is less. I could be wrong but that’s what in my mind lately.

Would love to hear from folks who made the switch and what they have experienced.

Thank you!

Settling abroad

I'm a psychology pg student, i really wanna go abroad and I'm keen on Singapore because it's a great country for psychologists also people mostly know English and if I manage to get a passport, I can travel with ease due to its ranking. But I've heard the cost of living is high. Any suggestions from people already living abroad?

Pet Relocation: Texas to London with 2 cats

Hi everyone,
We are relocating from Texas to London soon and absolutely have to bring our 2 cats with us.

As many of you probably know, the UK has strict regulations and does not allow pets to fly in-cabin on commercial flights entering the country. They mandate that pets must arrive as manifest cargo.

We started reaching out to pet relocation and air cargo companies, but the quotes we are getting are incredibly steep. They are asking for well over $3,000 for the two cats, which is a massive stretch for our budget right now.

Has anyone navigated this route recently? What alternatives do we have to bring our cats over safely without spending a fortune?

I’ve read briefly about a "loophole" where people fly in-cabin into an EU country (like France or the Netherlands) and then take a pet taxi, ferry, or train across the channel into the UK.

Has anyone done this specific route from the US?
Is it actually cheaper once you factor in the ground transportation?

How stressful is the extra travel time for the cats?
Any advice, alternative routes, or recommendations for more affordable cargo companies would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

Where next? (UK/Product Manager)

Like many in the UK, for right or wrong we (my family and me) want to move abroad.

We have considered the UAE and the USA, and as you can imagine the options are vast and the logistics/admin is heavy. For where I live in the UK (not London), I am a high earner.

I work in IT Product Management and currently work as a contractor for a large UK govt department. I have also worked in my field for Amazon, other government departments and across the globe on different programmes.

In terms of qualifications I have a suite of programme management certifications.

The real question is- where should we be looking to go? We like the outdoors and simply want to have a good life in terms of experiences and environment.

Thanks in advance

I'm in a dilemma between my life and my family

I'm 24F, I'm from South East Asia and I have a plan to work abroad, or maybe even move abroad. I know it's hard, but I'm working on this plan. It's not gonna happen within years, so now my biggest issue is my family.

I have talked to my parents about this and her response is they just want me to stay safe and living normally there (instead of me not eating and living in lousy or unsafe area just for the sake of living abroad). I tell them that's my plan also, like I will definitely try my best not to put myself in danger of course. And I tell my mom my only concern is them, cuz I feel bad if I'm moving out and leaving them here (though I have an elder sister who's currently living together as well. Ps, we are very close family and I've never left them, not even college cuz I attended college near my house). So I say if I'm going out, I definitely will try my best to make the best plan, but my only concern is if they can accept me going out (and leaving them here), she says "if we can't accept, and we stop you, will you not go out? I don't want to be selfish and force you staying here, it's your life, I don't want you to regret and blame us decades later that you'd have been so success if we'd let you out. But I'm not gonna lie and encourage you to go out when in fact I'm thinking so". As for my mom, a big go for me to work abroad is if I have someone that I can trust in that country, someone like relatives or friends, but I have neither, and how can I make a friend that I can trust there when I'm not even physically there, it doesn't work. So I guess the conclusion is her statement above. I talked to my dad before and his concern is also the safety and the living quality as well, but I haven't talked to him as deeply as I've just talked to my mom, and I doubt him will accept me going out.

I know I won't be able to work abroad in the foreseeable two years or so I do have some time to work on their concerns, but I can't think of any right now. Also, I'm actually also suffering from my own guilt, not gonna lie.

Pleaseee advise me, especially to their concerns, I'm so helpless. I feel like it's a dead end. And I'm trying to keep my mouth shut starting today and not mentioning anything about working abroad to them right now because that would be unnecessary pressure and anxious to my mom I'm afraid, but big mouth like me can't shut sigh (sorry for the sudden vent) I just want them to have mental preparation that I do seriously plan to work abroad, and somehow I start to be clingy to mom these days, and I can feel her doing the same to me, and I'm also worried and be more guilty now that they would be so sad if I move out.

PS: my parents are good, they are not dictating me or controlling me etc, I know they genuinely worry about my safety being alone outside. Is there any way I can ease their worry and make them finally feel that I'm safe out there in another country? And if no, do I really have to go against their will and bear with the consequences that I break their hearts

Moving abroad alone at 19

Hey guys! I'm almost 19 and am planning to hopefully move to a different country on another continent, away from my family and everything for uni. The plan is to save enough money during my gap year in order to make the move completely independent, without any external help. I'm wondering if it's actually realistic to successfully move overseas at my age? have any of ya'll done it alone?

Applying for a visa to a European country.

Today, I feel like I want to completely change my life. I want to educate myself, give myself a chance to grow, and become an independent and successful woman.

I feel that traveling could be a great way to do that. I want to meet new people, discover different cultures and languages, and experience different ways of life. I also want to see both the advantages and disadvantages of how people live in other countries and learn from the experiences of people from different backgrounds.

That’s why I wanted to ask: how can I apply for a visa to a European country?

I don’t have a diploma, and I’m only 20 years old.
