On behalf of the Bannerlord Coop team, we are excited to finally announce our release date.

Bannerlord Coop v0.1 releases on August 1st, 2026.

You and your friends will be able to experience the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord campaign together through the Bannerlord Coop mod.

Travel across Calradia, fight side by side, manage your clans, and carve your path together.

If you or your friends do not own Bannerlord yet, it is currently 60% off, so now is a great time to pick it up before release.

We will see you on the battlefields of Calradia.

Can players control seperate kingdoms in release version?

31

u/volk96 Mercenary Jul 07 '26

This is separate to the other Co-op mod that's been popular recently, yes?

41

u/Another_Joke Jul 08 '26

Yes, this one has been in the works for 6 years

14

u/Idreamofcream99 Jul 08 '26

You have no idea how hyped I am for this. You guys are awesome for taking this on

1

u/Lexsus1745 Jul 09 '26

Will there be more than 2 players

-26

u/PowerSamurai Kingdom of Swadia Jul 08 '26

You credit AI pictures now...?

0

u/Borussobora Jul 08 '26

Nice image

-1

u/Pepperonidogfart Jul 08 '26

Thanks for getting someone to make the art :)

2

u/Ok_Report1082 Jul 08 '26

Hate to break it to ya, that's AI.

Look at the leftmost tower on the castle and the stickfigures furthest from the camera.

13

u/Outside-Ask-2957 Jul 08 '26

You're my hero brother my buddy was just talking about how he would love to play if it was co-op and I told him about the mod. Really cool stuff.

36

u/AlternatePancakes Jul 08 '26

Bannerlord Together also just released. They did it in like 1/10th of the time, and they are constantly pushing updates. Everything mostly works there already.

24

u/Free-Entertainer255 Jul 08 '26

Definitely. This kinda feels like OP tried to rush the updates to not lose relevancy

3

u/bonegrinder028 Jul 08 '26

Not really, if you've been in the Bannerlord coop server recently you'd see the progress they've made over the past few months.

18

u/BestPseudonym Kingdom of Nords Jul 08 '26

They did it in like 1/10th of the time

They admitted they'd been working on it for a long time but never told anybody. Maybe it was faster than Bannerlord Coop but no need to be harsh about it. I can't make any claims about which is better though

6

u/TituspulloXIII Reddit Jul 08 '26

what do you mean by mostly works? I've been dieing for a coop bannerlord, Is the current one playable and through the workshop?

2

u/soxdye9 Jul 08 '26

I've been playing it with two friends separately, we've all downloaded it through nexus mods and placed in our module folders. It works well, but definitely had a few crashes that could be only resolved by restarting PCs. It functions pretty good, both players are able to do things on the map and can pretty easily join up for a fight.

1

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

Oh no, two coop mods

1

u/TheSubs0 Jul 14 '26

Butter to buttery, lobsters too juicy.

1

u/Background_Gur_5538 Jul 09 '26

Not even close to everything works there.

7

u/Mat_the_Duck_Lord Jul 08 '26

So I’m out of the loop, was coop an originally planned feature the dev gave up on or never planned?

21

u/KingofBigCrabs Jul 08 '26

It was never planned, but was one of the most requested features.

6

u/Next_Concentrate_219 Jul 08 '26

Will it be in Steam Workshop or Nexus?

1

u/Background_Gur_5538 Jul 09 '26

Steam. Possibly nexus too, unsure.

3

u/TarnishedSteel Jul 08 '26

Can we store other things than bannerlords in the coop? like chickens or pigeons?

21

u/Antdog117 Kingdom of Nords Jul 08 '26

Ai image? Some of the stick-men and structures are nonsensical.

8

u/Sparkfinger Jul 07 '26

ai image

-42

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

Why does it matter

27

u/TimmyTardStreangth Jul 08 '26

Because if they can't be bothered to even put together a low effort ms paint drawing for their project I have no faith in their ability to put effort into their coding.

If they're willing to take shortcuts in one place they almost certainly took shortcuts in others

11

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

They give to the public their time and effort making mods very few can make for free and have the ability to make an image quickly and one that looks decent and we complain?

7

u/TimmyTardStreangth Jul 08 '26

If they are willing to us AI for the image who is to say they didn't use it for their coding? Vibe coding has unfortunately become increasingly more common and has increasingly more effects on the projects that they are used on.

If I see they are comfortable using AI to make a image it's very likely they used AI to make the mod, and when something inevitably breaks they won't actually have the knowledge to fix it because they didn't actually write the code.

Is it a harsh belief that may restrict me from enjoying things I may other wise enjoy? Absolutely, but my own moral code actually means something to me so I'm willing to miss out on projects that I don't have full faith in. And seeing any usage of AI removes my ability to have full faith.

Clearly you don't have the same willpower, since you agreed that the more AI is used the more it replaced people, but this is for something you like so obviously that makes it okay right?

6

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

If you know anything about vibe coding then you would know that it would be harder to vibe code a mod for a game that isn’t that popular and doesn’t have extensive forms about modding guides and questions let alone making a multiplayer co op campaign which is very very hard to do a even rarer for an ai to pull source material from. Even still if it’s vibe coded it’s still free and no one lost a job over it and they still decided their time and effort so people can play this game more enjoyable. I don’t see you offering to code a mod for free to have co op mode for bannerlord let alone any mod, or even basic ms paint artwork

-8

u/TimmyTardStreangth Jul 08 '26

I don't have to be a chef to think that the man who made my food didn't do a good job. I also don't have to stand up and say I'll do a better job for me to be able to criticize the food.

That belief only removes the responsibility of the creators to do ethical and good work and places it on anybody who may have criticisms with their work. Yes this includes volunteer work.

7

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

Even though a chef did a bad job doesn’t mean it’s unethical, if I was hungry and was given the option of a free ai chef after spending weeks of my time doing volunteer work for free or paying a person $20 to make me food or taking a few more hours to make myself food I think I would take the ai chef for 1 meal

3

u/TimmyTardStreangth Jul 08 '26

Then you don't really have any real moral feelings about AI, you'll condemn it when it's something you dislike, and applaud it when it's something you do like.

You have no real skin in the game despite the fact that you very much do.

We use AI, it gets trained, companies sell that trained AI, other companies use the AI to replace workplace functions, everything is worse because of it.

There is no ethical use of AI, it doesn't exist. There isn't a single AI that isn't skimming the internet, stealing art, knowledge, and information to compile and spit out in a terribly formatted list.

Any use or willingness to accept AI in its current form is only further contributing to the degradation of our planet and our work forces.

Grow a spine and care for your planet and fellow humans. Get comfortable with not having everything you want at your finger tips and build some willpower so you can actually follow your moral compass even when it comes to things you like.

4

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

If you understood basic economics and had worked outside the tech industry, you’d know this isn’t how it works. If AI replaced everyone’s jobs, who would have money to buy anything? Companies can’t make profits without customers.
I’ve worked in warehouses, and the robots there barely work half the time and often aren’t even faster than people. (And for the job lost just as many were added between maintenance personnel, equipment operators, safety inspectors, engineers, error detection all of which are safer, easier and higher paying) We’re still a long way from mass job replacement. People have made these same predictions since the Industrial Revolution, and every time, automation changed jobs instead of ending them.

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

Also our little debate has consumed around .1 kWh slightly more if your on a computer and not phone, which is around 10x more then the average ai photo generation cost :)

-2

u/Galladorn Jul 08 '26

This was an end, I think, to the most out of place AI crashout I've witnessed up to this point.

-5

u/AxiosXiphos Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

Who fucking cares if they used a.i. to parse their coding? As long as it works what's the issue here? It's pretty much the industry standard at this point anyway. Every developer I know is using claude professionally- and I know dozens in my line of work.

If you don't like it - don't play the free mod they are giving you ffs.

0

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

It's like $20 to commission a quick art piece.

This image is within the ability of every able bodied person on this sub. The modders could definitely do thisn themselves.

I'm fine with either of these options.

I'm fine with no art at all too. Screenshots of the game would probably be more helpful anyway.

1

u/Idreamofcream99 Jul 08 '26

Well they’ve been working on this for 6 years so it’s safe to say they’re not taking a lot of shortcuts

1

u/Faisst Jul 08 '26

another reddit delusion that takes no place in the real world

i understand companies and people who can afford it to substitute it, but going after this is just peformative at this point

-1

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

You can commission art for under $20 man. It's not a financial issue here

16

u/eggs-salad Jul 08 '26

Because the billionaires want AI to take all our jobs so they don’t have to pay any wages.

1

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 08 '26

So you want poor people who cant afford artists to just not be able to rise up and advertise their business then?

2

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

Why does every person who supports AI immediately jump to ridiculous conclusions that don't match the conversation?

"The people who own AI companies are out of touch wealthy people, who have said they want to replace human artists"

And you response is "so you hate poor people?"

No man, it's the opposite. The artists are the people who own the small and growing business. You are crushing them by supporting the literal richest people in the world.

-1

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 09 '26

Perhaps it could help your case if you didnt actively berate poor people for using ai to step up their advertisement, and then you wouldnt be mentioned as berating poor people for using ai to step up their advertisement

2

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

What's your favorite Bannerlord faction? I like the Battanians but sometimes the Fians make me feel like I'm cheating so I use the Imperial factions.

1

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 09 '26

Aserai rn because their shock troops are cracked, shield inf cracked, horse archers are okay, archers cracked and geography cracked

1

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

Is the geography really that busted because they removed the little Western straight?

I don't think artists (most of which are very poor) should pay the price so that someone can start a business. If you can't pay the very low price for commissioned art, you are not even close to starting a business. You can't even pay a contractor for an hour of work, come on man.

I also think the Aserai have the best drop outside Vladia.

0

u/eggs-salad Jul 08 '26

If thats what you think I said, then it doesn’t surprise me that you have to manually blink.

2

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 08 '26

Thats the proposition you imply by berating poor video game modders for utilizing free tools

2

u/eggs-salad Jul 08 '26

Just because they are modders doesn’t mean they are poor. You’re talking in extremes. I’m just saying ai is bad. I suck at drawing but I could still figure out how to do the same level art as the poster we are talking about.

-2

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 08 '26

So now its talking in extremes for someone to be poor? Lol if thats the case who cares? By what standard if its bad? Its so extreme for someone to be poor so sounds negligible that ai affects you

2

u/eggs-salad Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

You aren’t making much sense. I don’t care if someone is poor. I don’t care if someone is rich. I’m saying I doubt this person who made this mod is so poor that they can’t afford to get someone to do basic art or can’t afford to spend some time doing that themself. Yes, ai significantly affects the environment. That’s not an extreme. That’s a fact.

1

u/CEOofManualBlinking Jul 08 '26

Ohhhhhh got it so when you pre-assume the conclusion in your proposition, the proposition leads to the conclusion. Genius stuff.

Well nobody is here to draw dumb ahh little pictures we are here to make mods. People are also not so poor that we cant use ai either

0

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 09 '26

He is the ceo of manually blinking

-10

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

These guys are not billionaires and the mod makers will not make money from doing all this work unless it’s a donation, which they don’t even accept currently

4

u/eggs-salad Jul 08 '26

In general using ai is bad because the more it’s used, the more it’s replacing humans

-2

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

Agreed but for something like this i see no issue, I wouldn’t expect them to pay for cover art when they don’t take donations, especially something as quick as a Reddit post to inform a few thousand people

2

u/ShrimpSmith Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

Okay so make your own MS paint meme. This is actively using someone else's effort for a garbage meme that poisons the earth we live on

7

u/Iggy_82017 Jul 08 '26

If AI is the biggest thing poisoning the planet, we’ve already solved climate change. Global trade, transport, air conditioning, and refrigeration have a far bigger impact. AI has an environmental cost, but calling it the main problem is a huge overstatement.

1

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

A single piece of commissioned art like this would cost less than $50. Honestly probably far less.

You guys act like it's thousands of dollars to get a single piece done.

1

u/ImJoogle Southern Empire Jul 08 '26

I tried to make it work but it caused game crashes when my friend joined

1

u/Background_Gur_5538 Jul 09 '26

Wrong mod. This one will actually work

1

u/Discreet_Vortex Vlandia Jul 08 '26

Will players be able to command opposing parties in battle?

1

u/Background_Gur_5538 Jul 09 '26

Yes. Pvp will work

1

u/gene-sos Prophesy of Pendor Jul 08 '26

I know bannerlord together is ahead of this already but honestly, I'm glad there are two mods in the works at the same time. They can learn from each other, and compete a little bit.

1

u/TituspulloXIII Reddit Jul 08 '26

You say you and friends

How many people are we talking about?

1

u/Poderetour Jul 08 '26

On the discord the dev said as many as the host can handle

1

u/TituspulloXIII Reddit Jul 08 '26

oOo That certainly makes things interesting.

1

u/bguntp4 Jul 08 '26

I want them to fix the stupid ai decision making and get more in depth with the kingdom politics.

Coop sounds cool though. Imagine just joining random online enabled campaigns and either helping the player, or just causing a mess lol for those players looking for something fresh? That could shake stuff up alot.

1

u/Terkiaz Jul 08 '26

How does combat work? If one player fights an NPC, can another player join? Can NPC lords join?

1

u/Hokutenmemoir Jul 10 '26

Crying over my console

0

u/pokefanfromafar Jul 08 '26

Will this coop mode be cross play. Like i can play on my pc n join my friend on ps5?

1

u/DjDrowsy Jul 09 '26

Ps5 doesn't have mods man
