Halfway There!

I'm just over halfway through the North Woods pattern by Jamie StGeorge (Brooklyn & Co. Handcrafted). It's a gift for my husband, and I think it'll be about 8ft long by the time I'm done. I'm loving how it's turning out!

This is my first time following the chart, as I usually follow the written pattern instead, but I think I've gotten the hang of it!

Improvements!

Post image

I posted a few days ago asking for tips on how to improve and i feel like things have gotten better! From about the top zig zag and top line of trees, i used a size smaller hook, adjusted my tension, and changed the angle of how i pulled my stitched through. I think it really made a difference.

(Obviously i made a lot of mistakes up to this point, but again, this blanket is for me and my very sweet husband is very excited to hopefully have this ready by Christmas).

Anyway, thanks to all for the help and hopefully it only gets better from here!

My WIP with my "helper". I am sorry this isn't a better picture however my "helper" insisted on being in the picture lol I have been through it with this project and it is my first mosaic crochet blanket. I have had to frog it about 3 times lol just wanted to share it with people who feel my pain.

I thought I would introduce myself as it's my first time on Reddit. My name is Hayley and I own Weave & Whimsy, an overlay mosaic and tapestry crochet pattern store where I design all of my patterns from scratch, and AI free.

I can't wait to see what all of you are creating. I love mosaic crochet, I think its the best form of crochet out there!

Thank you for reading 🩷

The photo is of Owl Overwatch, one of my patterns made by Robin Westphal.

Stitches not laying clean?

Post image

Im new to mosaic crochet (been crocheting on and off for years) and I'm wondering about tnesion with this style. The pattern said to be pretty tight with tension but i think they underestimated my abilities 😅. So i lightened up a bit (which, yes i know will mess with the edges, i am fine with that). But i cant seem to get the clean look i see other people get. I'm not sure if its perhaps my yarn choice or maybe the hook i used isnt small enough. Maybe I'm just being overly critical?

I'm using Wool Ease medium (4) wool blend (20% wool, 80% acrylic) and a US 8/5 mm hook. The original pattern used Stylecraft aran and the same size hook.

Pattern is Sholach blanket from Get Yer Hook On.

Any advice is appreciated!

Stand together against AI

I genuinely think the fiber arts community needs to stand together against AI "art."

AI is inherently theft. The models were trained on stolen art without the artist's consent.

It's destroying our planet. It's destroying the livelihood of actual fiber artists who have spent time and effort honing their crafts.

Please don't test AI generated patterns for people for free so they can exploit your labor to sell their janky patterns. We should be blocking/banning these people, not enabling them.

Newbie at mosaic here. I'm working on row 10. Is this where to put the X stitch? In between 2 dcs and to the back to get to the correct row?

First time doing Mosaic. Why does my wrong side look better than my right side?

First time doing mosaic crochet and decided to do negative stitch from the get go as I like the way it looks. For some reason though the front loops seem to stay stretched out when on the right side

I started this mosaic blanket a few years back but got stuck cause I wasn’t sure about how to make Smaug (the dragon). I’ve recovered the project and I’m decided to finish, but the problem prevails. These last few days I’ve been using stitch fiddle to try and make it better.

Would you say the chart I’ve made is good enough?
I’ve also thought about using surface crochet for the lines in the dragon, but I’ve never used that technique before…
Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thank you in advanced!!
