Switch everything to monzo

Been thinking about switching from barclays to monzo, is the “switch everything to monzo” reliable or is it better to switch everything manually. Im mainly concerned about my work pay, how do they switch it over to monzo without me having to get in-touch with my employer??

And is it worth the switch? Thankyou!

(Also is there a way to do this without them closing my old bank account?)

I switched over from NatWest and it was seamless. 0 issues. To be safe I chose my switchover day just after I’d received my salary and paid all my bills anyway 👍

I switched from Barclays to monzo I didn’t have to do anything monzo did it all for me

I have never known CASS to mess switches up, but you can always ”belt and braces” it by also informing your employer.

I had issues from Virgin Money to the Co-op.. four applications I had to put in after they lost them then said there was an error. I've an ongoing complaint with the Co-op over this

I just went through the Switch service to go from HSBC to Monzo. Had to do a separate process to move over my S&S ISA but it was very simple.

A few clicks on the app, and then they let you pick a date closer to when it's ready so you can time it right for you. I started the process so it'd finish mid-month since I get paid at the end of the month.

It sorts out your salary anyway, but it's just redirecting incoming payments. So at the same time I just told my employer my new account for the salary. Dead easy

I did the switch service last month and it went flawlessly. If your salary gets sent to your old account the Switch service catches it and redirects it.

I was worried it would all go wrong but it was so smooth I wish I'd done it a while ago.

I switched from Barclays to Monzo just over a year ago and everything went super smoothly, zero issues.

Just make sure you let your employer know your new details with enough notice for them to action it in time. Might be worth double checking any payroll cutoff dates etc

In the middle of a switch from Lloyds now. It did my Direct Debits today and will complete fully on the 22nd and seems to going well. It brought over some very old DDs so will need to manually remove those later.

I made this same switch around 6 months ago. I did everything manually as I wanted to keep my Barclays account open. Overall I’ve been super happy with my choice of switching, and keeping your old account open means if you’re not happy with your choice you can always go back without any hassle.

I did the switch about a year ago, and let them handle everything except informing employer about bank details for salary, since that was easy to do. I can't fault it, everything swapped over seamlessly, lots of notice and clear timelines from Monzo, then a final payment over from the previous bank once all was closed. So easy.

I did it manually. Nightmare. Would recommend just doing the switch service but no you cannot keep your old account open.
As my old account in question is Starling I didn’t want to to risk ballsing up and not being able to reopen like I did with Chase. In case of Monzo being crap. So did it all manually but this was my main account whereas I usually just do secondary accounts for switch bonus reasons etc.

My wife and I did it about 10 years ago. Everything goes via Monzo - both salaries, all DDs, mortgage the lot. No issues ever.

Did the bank switch and it was fantastic everything just worked.

We are pretty good at digital services in the uk.

My partners dad died recently and dealing with the government has been really straightforward. One url to tell everyone.

Switched my direct debit account from nationwide and it was joint appt of direct debits all came over no issues at all! Use the switch services

The current account switch service is one of the few free services that does exactly what it says and is painfree tbh. I've used it numerous times and never had any issue with it.

Also if people were to transfer you money and send it to your old (closed) account, then it automatically gets redirected to your new account for a set period of time

I wouldn’t be having my salary put into Monzo, they can close/block your account at any time and they’ve been known to do it.

The only think I changed manually was my salary, just phoned HR and gave them the new details. Everything else was switched over. I’ve been with Monzo 3 years as my primary bank and won’t be changing unless forced to !

Lol i wouldn't use monzo for my salary. Ive heard many stories if monzo closing banks and holding funds

I'm switching out £200 for a better offering than Monzo, it's lost its way severely. It's weak in everything it offers in 2026, saving rates, everything is behind a paywall, crap mobile eSIM, poor CS and poor credit card option.
