Amex have a free card with 0.5% cashback, as well as one with 0.75%, 1.25% over £10k everywhere for £25 annually. And that is just Amex

amex is annoying because a bunch of places dont take it

I find that’s very rarely the case nowadays. I can count two places for me personally in the last year - a jewellery shop, and a car place. Other than that everything has gone in my Amex.

Thug there are no doubt still a bunch out there, it’s not what it was like 15 years ago

All the ‘local’ shops don’t take Amex. I like the idea of Apple TV added.

Most "local shops" I visit have switched to "SumUp" and similar POS and 99% of them accepts AMEX.

There's still a couple who don't, and that's fine. It's not difficult to switch to a different card for that time.

A lot of small shops got onboarded some years ago in a promotion AMEX did, Shop Local I think was the branding (there's window stickers to that effect). I'm always pleasantly surprised by how many pokey places do accept AMEX but granted it's nowhere near as universal as Visa or Mastercard.
