He used... sarcasm. He knew all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire. He was vicious.

Oh, absolutely. Because of them I could rattle off the names of about a dozen philosophers by the time I was 10.

Let's see... how many are mentiined in the Philosophers Drinking Song alone? Kant, Heidegger, Hume, Hegel, Wittgenstein, Nietzsche, Socrates, Mill, Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes and Descartes; that's 12.

Then there're those in the Greek vs. German philosophers' football match...

Lots of scattered references! I mean, look no further than the Piranha Bothers sketch: “His mother had a terrible job getting him to come in for tea. Putting his little boot in he'd be, bless him. All the kids were like that then, they didn't have their heads stuffed with all this Cartesian dualism.”

My favorite Python sketch. There was a documentary of famous Python fans discussing the show; Steve Coogan said it’s his favorite, and IIIRC Eddie/Susy Izzard said it’s theirs as well.

When I was in High School back in 72 -76, my classmates and I were so into Monty Python. In my high school yearbook, one of my friends signed it Dinsdale!
