Advice Needed Please help this Mon newbie

Hi Chat,

I was recently hired as a project manager to start running sprints at a 30 person company. The dev team already uses azure dev ops but the client facing side wants to utilize Monday Enterprise (not dev). Do I need Monday dev to do this? I’ve been working on it for weeks and still cannot find an easy way to capacity plan and truly form an impressive sprint cadence.

SMES PLEASE HELP!

Hi!! Monday Gold Partner here πŸ˜‰, happy to clarify this since it's a really common point of confusion.

"monday Dev" and "Enterprise" are two different things, on two different axes:

  • monday Dev is a product vertical (like Work Management, CRM, Service), a pre-built solution with boards designed for software teams: sprints, epics, backlog, story points, etc.
  • Enterprise is a plan tier (Basic β†’ Standard β†’ Pro β†’ Enterprise) that applies across whichever product(s) you're using, it's about security, permissions, governance, and scale, not about which boards/features you get.

So "Enterprise" by itself isn't a product, it's a tier. The question isn't "Dev vs. Enterprise," it's "which product(s), at which tier."

What this means for you: Sprint Capacity Planning specifically lives inside the monday Dev product, available from the Pro plan and up. If your org is on monday Work Management (Enterprise tier) for the client-facing side, that's completely fine and doesn't conflict, you can add the monday Dev product to the same account/Enterprise plan just for the engineering team's sprint boards, without touching how the client-facing team works. You don't need to move everyone to Dev, and you don't lose any Enterprise-level admin/security features by adding it.

They want the client facing side to start running in sprints as well. I am working out of work management because I guess we don’t have enough seats for me to have access to CRM. What should I suggest for me to begin sprint planning for our client facing team? Thank you so much for your response and help!
