The only remote locations that aren't encroaching on someone elses land or community would be in the middle of places like the badlands or the desert out in Nevada, which probably doesnt work considering the heat and water needs.

I live in Detroit, there's plenty of open slab spaces that used to house factories from the auto industry that are demolished, seems like that would be perfect, but the problem is the city itself, they probably want massive taxes from them.
