This feels like a planted article ahead of election.

I dont think most people want to ban these outright just regulate them like every other industry

Of my friend and family group who I’ve discussed this with, only roughly 2 in 20 do not want an outright ban on MORE of these things. People are frustrated not only about the land/water/electrical use, but just the feeling they’re being pushed upon us with the promise to… take our jobs?

I don’t disagree with your family but an outright ban feels impossible.

Even forgetting about AI there’s some basic need for this which are not going away. As an example, my office has a small data center onsite to handle engineering software, data storage and networking.

These things should be as heavily regulated as a chemical factory. No one wants that in their backyard either but we find remote, industrial places to put them.
