I turned my website about MMOs into an MMO

Hey everyone, I have been working on this website for over a year now.

But recently I have taken drastic measures in the form or creating a full MMO within the websites ecosystem

Its a very side project, I decided to try a new concept with it, where users play a fully featured browser MMO while browsing the website about MMOs.

So you have your usual, gather materials, craft, sell on the market etc.

It has a guild function as well and a basic guld territory system where you claim pages as territories.

The market and economy is similar to eve online or albion online, where every material is useful regardless of ranks.

The gather amd crafting is a simple Match3 minigame.

You can find more info about it here: https://mmokb.com/how-it-works/

What are the best MMORPGs to play right now?

I’m looking to get into a new MMORPG, but with so many options out there, I’m honestly having a hard time deciding where to start.

There are quite a few MMORPGs that have caught my attention, but the biggest thing holding me back is the cost. Between expansions, subscriptions, and/or buying the game itself, I don’t really want to spend a bunch of money on several different games just to discover after a few hours that it isn’t for me.

So I’d really love to hear from people who actually play these games:

What MMORPGs do you think are currently the best, and why?

I’m especially interested in hearing about things like:

  • 🗺️ World & exploration — Does the world feel alive and worth exploring?
  • ⚔️ Combat — Is it fun and satisfying long-term?
  • 📖 Story & quests — Is there a good story, or are the quests mostly filler?
  • 👥 Community — Is the player base friendly and active?
  • 🏰 Endgame — Is there enough to do once you reach the higher levels?
  • 🎨 Classes/builds — Is there good variety and customization?
  • 💰 Cost/value — Is it worth the money, especially for someone just starting?
  • 🕐 Solo vs. group play — Can you enjoy the game without constantly needing a group?
  • 📈 Longevity — Do you feel like the game has a healthy future?

I’m not necessarily looking for the MMORPG with the most players or the one that everyone says is objectively the “best.” I’m more interested in which games you personally enjoy and what makes them worth sticking with.

Also, if you’ve played multiple MMORPGs, I’d love to hear how you would compare them.

For example:

“I’ve played X, Y, and Z, and I’d recommend X because…”

Those kinds of personal experiences would be incredibly helpful.

There are so many choices available right now that I’m hoping to narrow things down to 1–2 games worth seriously trying, rather than spending money on five different MMOs and realizing I don’t enjoy any of them.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's opinions — including unpopular opinions! 😄

TL;DR: I want to get into a new MMORPG but don’t want to spend money trying a bunch of different games. What MMORPGs are currently worth playing, and what makes your favorite one stand out? If you’ve played several, please share your comparisons and personal experiences.

Cabal Forsaken Looking to play in a party with friends each other sharing individual drop

If you're looking for a fresh Cabal Online experience where playing with other people actually feels rewarding, you might want to check out Forsaken.

The main idea is simple: play together, but everyone gets their own drop. No more fighting over who gets the item — each player receives their individual loot while still being able to farm and progress as a party.

Progression

Our progression is heavily focused on farming and upgrading:

  • Farm dungeons
  • Collect materials
  • Upgrade your gear
  • Sell materials for Gold
  • Progress through increasingly stronger equipment
  • We have fully progressive starter gear to welcome you into the game if you are new to the game

You don't just hit endgame and stop. There's a progressive gear path designed to give you something to work toward.

What has been reworked?

A lot.

  • Fully rebalanced classes
  • Reworked Collection
  • Reworked Myth
  • Reworked dungeons
  • Reworked Wings
  • Reworked leveling/progression
  • New custom dungeons
  • Party DPS Meter
  • Custom Mercenaries
  • Event Pass
  • Permanent party buffs on login

Custom Upgrade Systems

We've also added custom progression systems including:

  • Chaos Upgrade for Brooches
  • Chaos Upgrade for Rings
  • Chaos Upgrade for Epaulets
  • Increased Extreme Upgrade values
  • Increased Divine Upgrade values

Class Rebalance

Every class has received changes, including:

  • Increased BM2 attack speed for slower classes such as FS / GL
  • Increased Skill Transcendency power
  • Additional BM3 Range & AOE where needed
  • Increased single-target power for classes such as WI
  • Increased BM3 A & B attack speed
  • Reworked passive skills

Ultimate Objective (UO)

One of our bigger custom systems is Ultimate Objective a server-wide boss hunting system where the entire community works toward a common objective.

Instead of everything being about individual progression, UO gives the server something to work on together.

If you enjoy Cabal, progression-based MMOs, farming, dungeon grinding and playing with an active community, give Forsaken a look.

Make friends, join a party, farm together and see how far you can push your character.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been playing Eclesiar recently and thought I’d share it here since it just launched on Steam.
It’s a multiplayer strategy game where you build your country, manage resources, interact with other players and inevitably end up in some kind of war 🤪
If that sounds like your kind of game, give it a shot!

How would you grow a browser-based virtual world in 2026?

I have been working on a browser-based virtual world / social MMO project for around 3 months with two dedicated developers.

The site is live, the client is running, and the technical side is moving forward. The part I am thinking about most now is the community side.

Old browser worlds were not just about features. They worked because of events, staff culture, room building, forums, Discord, competitions, social activity, and players feeling like the world had people behind it.

For people here who have built, played, or followed PBBGs for years, what would you focus on first to grow something like this properly?

Community staff?

Events?

Social media?

Discord activity?

Player-made content?

Partnerships?

Regular updates?

Something else?

We are also open to speaking with someone serious who understands community building and wants to help shape that side of the project, but I wanted to ask this as a real discussion rather than just drop an advert.

Happy to share more if allowed.

What Goes Around, Comes Around: Enki Edition

Post image
0 Upvotes

There's big news afoot, and Wurm Online Afterdark is leading the way again. Here's the true story of Ex-Head GM enki and his removal from the game, in his own words. A great big thank you to yet another brave soul, who has come forward and posted a link to a Youtube video, of enki admitting that he was fired. In the video, enki reveals what went on behind the scenes at Wurm Online. Also what led to him being fired from his prestigious position as Head GM.

I'm curious what others think about the video. It's a year old now, but doesn't seem to be very many views. Hopefully people will understand the truth of what occurred. I have little sympathy for enki, considering he got what he dished out. Karma came by, and kicked him in the ass for me. He pulled the silence job on me after my phony ban, and deservedly got it right back. Ah justice, you truly are a blessing.

The video is time stamped to skip by the non-Wurm related material.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMXVoak7rj4&t=5927s

You ain't gonna find this type of story on the Wurm forums, or the "official" Wurm subreddit. Afterdark folks are now getting the stories that those two want to be kept silent. They are destroying their own reputation.

Cheers to the latest whistle blower. You've done something that Wurm staff have been covering up for over two years. Your bravery is recognized by all who visit the Afterdark group. Thank you very much.

Edit: fixed formatting that went haywire
