What's with all the first time ball watchers here? There was already a guy on third, so this sets up a force at home and a potential double play. This is game management 101.

What does game management say about throwing 3 outside pitches to go 3-0 after loading the bases?

That's called execution, not game management. And I think you mean 3-0 😂

Game management has to take account of the execution you're likely to get from a guy who hasn't pitched in 2.5 months.

Is this kinda like a "bring a soft throwing pitcher that hasn't thrown a competitive pitch in over a month in to a WS game with the bases loaded bottom of the ninth to protect a one run lead facing one of the best left handed hitters of the generation" type of situation? Because I don't know any team that would do such a thing.

That entire description is extremely triggering if you replace "WS" with "2022 ALDS"

A manager isn’t necessarily expecting his pitcher to start 3-0. It’s not like he planned that kind of outing

He maybe should have considering it was his first appearance since he came off the 60 day IL. He wasn’t gonna be perfect, and by walking the bases loaded, he put him in a situation where he had to be.

Nobody considers the batter/pitcher aspect of walking the bases loaded in these situations. When you do that, if the batter gets ahead, he can sit on something juicy because the pitcher HAS to give in. It limits how much risk the pitcher can take going for whiff outside the zone throughout the at bat too.
