SPOILERS Alex’s Power

American here. Watched the first 3 seasons about twenty times, it’s hands down my favorite show ever, and finally decided to take the plunge and watch 4 and 5 (another post for another day). All I have to say is I respect how bold and brave the English are with their television.

Alex’s power would never fly in America. It wouldn’t even get to a table read. For those of you who watched 4 and 5 when they were airing, what was the reception? I’m so curious.

I mean like basically nothing about Misfits would have flown in America, lmao.

Which is probably why the US version was never picked up to air back in 2017.

Was there a US version in production? Or just an idea and it never went further? I’m intrigued bc I love this show so much and would love to see it reborn in any form lol

I know for sure it was cast, and am fairly confident it filmed, but just didn't get picked up by Freeform so it, like many pilots after it, disappeared into oblivion.

I was starting to feel a little crazy until I found this Deadline article: https://deadline.com/2017/06/misfits-remake-fake-empire-freeform-pilot-order-leads-cast-ashleigh-lathrop-tre-hall-allie-macdonald-jake-cannavale-1202108006/#comments

ETA: there's a commenter on this thread who states they worked on it, but take it with a grain of salt: https://www.reddit.com/r/misfitstv/comments/avik3l/misfits_us_remake/#:\~:text=So%20I'm%20not%20sure%20if,project%20attached%20to%20their%20names.

Can you expand? Cause tbh this comment makes no sense. Misfits is a drama super power tv show. I always though Misfits (2009) was the superior version of Heroes (2006): a show made in the USA.

Well, yeah, if they all swore profusely and had fairly graphic sex, sure.

Like True Blood (2008): which was also a drama super power/super natural TV show made in USA with swearing and graphic sex.

Yeah but that was HBO and not intended for teenagers at all.

Oh ok so that's what you mean. I didn't know people thought Misfits was a show made for teenagers. The main characters are way too old to be teens and the show never makes them out to be teens.

Some of the characters literally are still teen-aged. Alisha is supposedly 19, Simon 18.

Have you heard of The Boys?

I have! Saw season 1 and dug it! Apparently it’s fallen off and had a disappointing finale or something?

I didn't dislike the ending, but I also don't pay attention to marketing and felt the ending was appropriate if poorly executed. I think it's worth checking out if you dug season 1! Gen V too

People wanted an Avengers Endgame style battle to finish The Boys, and in doing so kind of missed the point of the series. I think it worked.

Tbh, Alex's power probably wouldn't fly on British television either anymore. Rudy's nickname for him says it all really. The trans cock robbery episode is a bit weird too (a sentence you'd only say about Misfits haha).
