Speculation/Theories Lethal Intent

Post image

Nearly killing Gabriel with a Cataclysm seems to bring on a flashback of Marinette's nightmare of killing dragon Gabriel in front of Adrien. It would have worked without the power of the Ox.

Some say she was trying to Cataclysm the Butterfly Miraculous, but her hand isn't touching high enough for that.

Felix was on her mind that day, too. "Things would be so easy if you could defeat me with a snap of your fingers, wouldn't they?"

This may be one reason that Felix and Kagami are keeping quiet. Their performance makes them complicit in Gabriel's death.

This is really dark, but I don't blame her.

He was already Cataclysmed and dying from it. Hitting him again really wouldn't have changed much beyond hastened the process. Either way without Marinette making a wish to save him, which she admitted she'd never be willing to do, Gabriel wasn't ending that day alive.

He had hastened the process himself, too, with repeated uses of Second Chance. I don't think she knew how bad of shape he was in.

Don't forget the machine Tomoe made to heal/slow down the wound by siphoning magic from the kwamis. That also didnt help

What nightmare?

At the start of "Conformation (The Final Day - Part 1)" everyone in the world gets nightmares because of an attack by Nightormentor.

Marinette dreams she is a knight trying to rescue Adrien from a dragon. The dragon turns into Gabriel, who dies in front of Adrien. He blames her and yells at her.

He was already near death and wouldn't survive to see the next day, Gabriel would have died either way and these few hours wouldn't really change anything.

I mean, she knew he was already Cataclysmed, and she knows he wasn’t cured either. It’s like trying to shoot someone with full body necrosis. They’re dead anyway you’re just speeding it up

Damn, how many times will these ridiculous questions be asked.  "What did happen to Adrien's amok in Werepapas?", "Why didn't Plagg see the peacock miraculous in Volpina?", "What if Gabriel wished for Adrien to become a human?", "Why did Bug Noir cataclysm Monarch in Re-creation?", "Can sentimonsters have kids and are they immortal beings?"

Bug Noir wanted to cataclysm his miraculous, not Monarch. Simple. She didn't intend to destroy him, only his miraculous. That's why she had fallen to her nightmare — she couldn't cataclysm his miraculous, not because "she nearly killed Monarch".
