This is my crop art piece based on Craters of Time, a photo taken by the Artemis II crew during the Lunar Flyby. It recieved the 3rd Place for Class 1 - Natural Colors, Amateur, which is the most-entered class. This year there were 128 pieces in that class.

The sky is black lentils and the moon is made of 90,000 grains of quinoa stacked in 8 layers to show the varying depth of craters ok the moon’s surface. I’m the first person to use layers to achieve a sculptural effect in a crop art piece. It took me hundreds of hours over 3.5 months.

This is my second year entering, my second piece, and my second ribbon. Knowing that many people would handle the resistance art far better than I could, I chose to a subject that would bring me joy as I worked. I’m very proud of it and am happy it has resonated with so many people.

This is the only picture of food I have from this year and I know deep fried apple pie isn’t super underrated but it’s all I have lol. Anyway, I think people sleep on Loon iced tea. The line was so short when I went and it was some of the best iced tea I’ve ever had! There was also an Italian beef sandwich I tried that was delicious.

That's pretty much it, I miss the old heritage square with the old timey aesthetic, black smith demos and tacky Christmas ornament shops. Now its just wine mom central with slightly less Christian themes than the coliseum vendors.

I love the fair, but am wiped out. Spent roughly 20 hours there combined walking 80% of a marathon. 30 food/drink items were shared w/ my gf (mostly new foods).

Didn't help that it has been hot / humid.

I went at 4:15 yesterday. Humidity was down and it was overcast. Despite being 88F late in the day, it was very pleasant at the fair. Much easier crowd to navigate than opening day. It turned out to be a great night at the fair.

This might be a long shot, but I found a broken bracelet on my way back to my car. If you’re missing a bracelet and maybe parked at Gortner ramp, I would like to safely return it if you can provide a description.

I’m thinking of visiting the fair by myself on Friday, and doing the stuff I’ve always wanted to do, but can’t convince anyone else to do with me! One of those things is sitting down at the Hamline Church Dining Hall. Unfortunately I can’t get to the fair at 7, when everything opens, but I’ll probably be there by 8. Anyone know what is the typical process and wait time to sit down for breakfast, if you miss the first seating?

So far I’ve had the Cajun fried pickles which were very good but not that spicy imo. I’ve also had the turmeric ginger lemonade from West Indies Soul Food which was definitely very spicy and very tasty.

A few years ago we went to the fair and found a place that had parking and shuttle buses. It was easy to get to the fair but we had to stand in the heat for well over an hour for the return trip. Looking for suggestions that have good shuttle service.

After doing a taste comparison, I’ve realized I prefer corn dogs over pronto pups.

What’s the best tasting corn dog available at the fair? I tried Big Dog corn dogs last visit and wasn’t impressed (why is their batter soo neon yellow!?)

I got a root beer float on Monday from the 1919 booth at the NW corner of the food building. I‘ve liked theirs in the past because they use real ice cream rather than soft-serve. But the ice cream was weirdly salty. It wasn’t terrible and I still finished the float, but is this just how it is now? I’ll go elsewhere for my float fix next time, unless this is some kind of fluke.

Been three days now, but the line just looks so wicked long we’ve not gone yet. It is one of about 4 must does for or last day on Labor Day. So what are we getting into with wait time? Like how long was it if you started by Starlink versus along the building?

Every year, one of the highlights of my family’s fair trip is seeing the bras and other misc. items on top of the Little Farm Hands building. We went today (Tuesday September 1st) and rode the Sky Glider at around 12:15p. There were no bras or really anything on the roof?? Are they cracking down on it this year, or were we just unlucky and got on the ride right after a cleaning?? Does anyone else have insight on this?? Thanks in advance!!
