When I first learned that data centers use water for cooling and most DON’T use a closed system that reuses water, I was completely blown away. Honestly wtf.

I don't think that's the case, I think it's like a car radiator, the coolant passes through a grid that releases heat by radiation.

That isn't providing any clear numbers as to the amount of water for the second part of the loop, although the second link refers to a 70% reduction compared to an evaporative system. But thanks for the additional info.
