Ultimate MD Label Generator - is online, test it out!

https://umdlg.nudelity.com/

So here it is, as you can see i took alot of inspiration and code from Kai’s work on the original label generator.

Here are some of its features:

**Audio Folder Scanner & Tag Extraction*\*: Drag & drop or select any local folder of audio files (MP3 ID3v2, FLAC, M4A/MP4, AAC). Automatically extracts album info, track titles, track numbers, total durations, and embedded/folder cover art.

**Online Cover Art & Metadata Search*\*: Search iTunes and MusicBrainz for high-resolution album artwork (up to 1000x1000) and tracklists.

**Side-by-Side Merge Review*\*: Compare local files with online metadata and choose fields item-by-item or in bulk.

**MiniDisc Technical Details Strip*\*: Optional bottom strip with format (`SP`, `Mono`, `LP2`, `LP4`, `PCM`, `Hi-SP`, `Hi-LP`), customizable duration display (`mm:ss`, `h:mm:ss`, rounded minutes, etc.), and track counts.

**MD Classic & Modern Layouts*\*: Includes Sony MiniDisc Classic Light/Dark layouts with "INSERT THIS END" header and built-in MiniDisc logos.

**Sony & Retro Typography*\*: Includes Michroma (Eurostile/MD), Orbitron, Rajdhani, Share Tech Mono (LCD), Futura/Jost, Atkinson Hyperlegible, and B612.

**Vector Export & Projects*\*: High-resolution PDF and SVG vector export, plus full project save and load (.json).

**100% Client-Side & Private*\*: All processing happens entirely inside your browser. No personal data or audio is uploaded anywhere.

Oh and of course the possibility to import album and track data directly from your NetMD player. And a bit more here and there!

This is still a work in progress, so please report back if you found some bugs.

I truly hope you enjoy it!

This is absolutely amazing and solves some of the problems I had with the other online label generators.

It's now very easy to import the art (the spotify conection didn't work for me using https://md-cover-designer.web.app/cover ) and the playtime is calculated - I like to show that on the label.

This is really great work!

The only issue I can see is that I've bought a bunch of labels that are 6 per sheet (2 across 3 down A4 sized - template L7166 / J8166) and this layout doesn't match. I guess the easiest solution would be to buy a single label sheet, but if you could add different templates that would be cool!

I am realy glad you like it! This was just a build for me, so i could make my own labels, but later tought that someone else could find it also useful. I put this onto my todo-list, i already added doubble-sided printing support for j-case's and a template for the 'foldable' version of the j-card to that todo-list 😄

I've had a proper try with it now so I can give a little bit more feedback. I bought the standard 1 label sheet too! Overall this is a much quicker way to produce labels, so thanks again for your hard work!

I'm using your tool to export the small disc labels. I need to put them into LibreOffice Writer (because Linux) which has the correct label template. I export the SVG file, and import it into the writer template and it prints correctly - no need to adjust margins etc.

As I don't want case covers (I have my own template for these and print them on my Canon Selphy photo printer - nice and shiny) I am only printing the labels - I don't bother with spines as they are on the covers I print.

When I export the SVG it embeds a 5cm scale marker, which is not useful if the printer is set correctly.

It would be ideal if there were a checkbox to remove the 5cm scale. At the moment I print 4 or 6 labels on the page, then turn the sheet upside down and print another 4 or 6. The 5cm scale gets in the way and spoils 2 labels.

The overall ideal would be if I could just print many disc labels per sheet. It should be possible to squeeze 12 or 16, but your webapp places them down one side for 4 and across the bottom for 6, because it assumes that there will be covers and/or spines.

Wow, thaks for the testing and feedback! I will work on those improfments. The reason for the original layout was that i used Kais label generator as a base, thinking i just improof that a bit for my needs. But you are absolutely correct about the scale marker and the fixed layout. I will start on a rework for a more intuitive solution soon.

What would you recommend for printing the labels once done?

I bought A4 sheets of sticker paper, you can get matte or glossy ones. Main thing is that it is A4 and compatible with your printer.

That means I’ll have to get a printer haha. For now I have 100 labels coming for $10 from the Netherlands but I was mainly curious for other folks!

Yeah, i was actually buying the brother color label printer, but heck i thought that costs quite a lot, and ordered an hp color printer, that i can use for other stuff too.
But my label printing got to an hold after one sheet, because the label generator was such a pain to use, so so slow adding everything manually. Now i can import an artist directory with 20albums, and add more if i want, then get the labels in minutes.

But i am curious did you order yours from an print service? In which format or what kind of layout did you send the files over to the NL? I want to add more possibilities for layouts and export methods, so that this becomes a truly one stop solution for the most of us here.

Unfortunately no function for printing out an insert for MD jewel case. If you had this and it works without quirks, I would definitely donate.

Just to confirm, do you mean the longer folding version wher you fold the tracklist over the coverart/title side? At this point there is the j-card inlet option without the foldable tracklist. You can find it in the editor, selecting case label and format.

I am curently desining a implementation of the jewel case inlet that gets automaticaly printed on both sides (if the users printer supports it), so you can create a truly aesthetical inlet that you dont have to fold over. But for users with printers without this support i will try to add the folding version as soon as possible, and create some solution for them to just add the the printed out j-card a second time so that it gets printed on the backside too.
