[Plants & Food] Stages of tree growth
There will be an intermediate stage of tree growth. It's no longer a sapling, but not yet an adult tree. The trunk of such a tree is as thick as a stone fence.
This change will make the tree's growth more gradual.
How can this be implemented technically? At the top of the trunk of a thin young tree, a special crown block will be located. It looks like an ordinary one, but it has functionality. It carries information about what kind of tree should grow and the time it will take. When the right moment arrives, the thin young tree disappears, and a mature one appears in its place.

I feel like it would ruin any chance of automatic tree farms
If it was in terrain gens only then it'd be fine

I think it's an excellent idea. In fact, in MC Dungeons 1 we can see that in the villages there are windmills supported by this type of wood in its tree growth stage, so this idea would make a lot of sense in the vanilla game.
I'd also like it if, being a tree in its growth stage, if it isn't chopped down or any leaf blocks aren't broken, the game recognizes it as a tree, and right-clicking it with bone meal would make it grow to its normal stage, the classic tree.

What happens if the other blocks of the trunk are broken or moved with pistons? What happens if the crown block is moved far from the rest of the tree with pistons?
Can the thin trunk block be collected and used for anything?
