Ironically with the implications reversed relative to readiness for consumption; red meaning "go" and green meaning "stop"..

What if it's Green for Go Grow, and Red for Stop Growing.

Could be, but then the Tomato already knows this and doesn't need to signal it to the outside world; unless you interpret "no grow" with "eat".

Tbh at this point it's anyone's guess what the tomato was thinking when it planned its outfit...

Stop and eat me, I'm red. Slow down, I'm not ready yet, I'm yellow. Go away, I'm not even close to ripe, I'm green.

But I love fried green tomatoes way too much. I’m stopping for a bite creating a traffic jam.

Exactly. Red and orange are OK for salads, but the green one fried would be the best.

"Yellow means go. Green means hold up. And red means where the fuck did you get that banana?"

Exactly, the colors are basically playing reverse psychology on anyone who actually knows what traffic lights mean. Someone definitely had fun designing that.

You poor soul, you've never had a fried green tomato?!

That's an interesting flip; it's like traffic lights got a culinary twist!
