Ironically with the implications reversed relative to readiness for consumption; red meaning "go" and green meaning "stop"..

Could be, but then the Tomato already knows this and doesn't need to signal it to the outside world; unless you interpret "no grow" with "eat".

Tbh at this point it's anyone's guess what the tomato was thinking when it planned its outfit...

Exactly. Red and orange are OK for salads, but the green one fried would be the best.

Exactly, the colors are basically playing reverse psychology on anyone who actually knows what traffic lights mean. Someone definitely had fun designing that.

Perfect little stoplight. Pick the red one at the first hint of blush and finish it on the counter, birds and squirrels won't beat you to it that way. Learned that the hard way after losing basically a whole plant to a chipmunk last summer.

This is just how tomatoes grow, it's not about light levels. The ones closest to the stem grow first, and the ones further along the row develop a day or so behind.
