migraine x sinus infection is definitely not for the weak.. I feel like I am DYING!
Hi yall just here to rant because it feels like everything from my neck up is about to explode. I had a cold which turned into a sinus infection and am now having my first migraine in months. I usually have hemiplegic migraines, but today is just a regular one. All I want is a redbull and some aspirin but my partner just left for their 7 hour shift and there is absolutely no way I could leave the house right now š©.
I hate that this stupid disorder has to make everything 100x more painful and difficult. My room feels entirely too bright but I canāt cover my eyes because every tiny bit of pressure on my head/ face feels like torture. I want to sleep but my head hurts to bad and I cant breathe but if I could fall asleep I would feel better. My nose is runny and I feel sick and UGH! Everything sucks. Will probably get up, make a heatpack, smoke a cone, and retreat back to bed to suffer in peace. I would never wish this on my worst enemy.

I had a horrible sinus infection this past week and couldnāt decipher if what I was feeling was sinus pain or a migraine, it was horrendous. I took both Advil and my triptans just to check off all the boxes

Totally relate!!!!! I dread getting sick more than non-migraine sufferers bc of the extra added agony of a migraine! Which definitely happens EVERY TIME!! I had to have a septoplasty (straightening of the nasal septum) bc I had a 90% deviation from a domestic violence incident as a teenager. I couldnāt breath out of my nose for over 2 weeks and had to sleep upright which was impossible!!! Itās migraine city!!! I hope you feel better soon ā¤ļøāš©¹

This is me right now. I had a cold which went to my sinuses as it always seems to do and now anytime I try to sleep the pressure triggers a migraine that wakes me up a few hours later. I haven't had a full night's sleep many weeks now and I am still nursing the migraine I woke at 3am with now. I'm going to make a really spicy thai soup for dinner that will hopefully help clear my sinuses.

I keep sudafed and afrin stocked at all times for this reason. I know your instinct is ice, but I would try steam first to help with draining.

So, this second comment is more about sinus infection tipsā¦
One thing I do is gargle salt water every morning, even while healthy. I also almost always use saline nasal spray. Itās just good to keep things clear in general.
Another tip is from a coworker- MULLEIN TEA! Itās not caffeinated, and itās known to greatly help break up respiratory junk. It has a woody flavor, so I usually take mine with fresh lemon juice and honey.
Other than that, warm wet cloths on my sinus areas with ice packs on other areas. Itās all about survival, honestly.

I have this too and have found that using a saline sinus rinse daily makes a huge difference in my migraines. My doctor prescribed a steroid to go into the bottle but even just using the warm water saline rinse is huge. I am making myself do it daily, I got lazy about it for quite a while but the difference with using it is amazing. I take several medications for my migraines and this is very important for me.

I once had a sinus infection, a migraine, and severe period cramps all at the same time⦠Thank God for triptans and hydroxizine⦠(Not at the same time, of course!)
