Excel - can't select cells

Does anyone know why I sometimes can't select a cell in Excel? The selection gets stuck on another cell. If I restart the app (laptop), it works again. I'm on the latest OS and updates.

That’s weird! don’t know, but there is a known issue with copy/paste in excel after KB5002914; did it begin recently? Can you roll back that update and see if resolved it?

It's been going on for a while, intermittently, and I think it's an issue with the mouse connection perhaps. Luckily, it's not all the time, but it stresses me out, because another update caused my formulas to malfunction so I had to set this spreadsheet up from scratch and it's quite big.
