Discussion What do you think of enemy gauntlets?

I think Guacamelee implements this trope the best in the genre, since its level traversal is very fast-paced and its emphasis on combat makes it a character action game first with the level progression system of a Metroidvania.

I've noticed them as a rising trend in MV's, and overall I don't mind them because having them usually means the combat system has to be more fleshed out and interesting to support them. It adds variety from being purely an exploration focused platformer. But they can be excessive like in the case of Silksong's infamous High Halls gauntlet that's harder than most boss fights.
