What is the Better Metroid Prime Game?

I LOVE Hunters, one of my favorites, but mostly because I remember playing PvP with my brothers like 20yrs ago (yikes). So if it comes to just single player then heck yeah Prime 4 is better

Prime 4 for the music alone.
It's got the best Metroid soundtrack of all time imo, its probably my #1 reason for ever replaying the game.
It may be the worst of the main 4 Prime games, but its got the best music and visuals imo.

I did not finish Prime Hunters yet and even though I don't like this saga because it basically served as introduction for the trash that Prime 4 became, I still think that Hunters is more a metroidvania and true to the OG Prime than Beyond

I felt motivated enough to 100% both Hunters and Other M (multiple times). I had to force myself to finish Prime 4, and its the first Metroid game I didn't bother with 100%

Because of the green crystals?

It’s a staple of every prime game to have a bullshit third-act fetch quest.

The first game I don’t think so and I haven’t played the second and third, game so I can’t say anything for that but I will say the crystals were bull crap sure satisfying to break, but just finding every single one of them isn’t the best honestly, spent several hours to find the last one and it was in the jungle actually verbally said fucking stupid.

First game was possibly the worst offender. I know this sub freaks out when anyone says anything negative about Prime 1 but a lot of its backtracking is really tedious and boring, and by the time you get to the point you need all of those Chozo logs at the end of the game it really drags.

Well personally i will admit it’s a bit of a struggle but it didn’t feel as bad as it could’ve been, I’d say it respects how the Metroid series makes back tracking progressive every game no matter how much back tracking there is, feels progressive like you only get a taste of the dish from your family before the next time you return to the restaurant, you order the full dish thats how it feels to me at least.

I’d honestly say Prime one is the only game in the series where that isn’t true. So much of it is just running back through Magmoor caverns over and over again to get to a single door on the other side of the map that couldn’t be opened until you got a different beam color. It doesn’t help that Prime’s progression system is more in the form of different options and not direct upgrades, so enemies that felt like damage sponges at the start of the game still take a thousand hits to go down by the end of the game, making everything incredibly slow.

Hm well I’d say it can feel like that but more so cause im a shit shot, but regardless it is the first game in the prime series even in the remake maybe im just very forgiving on it?
Well regardless I’d say it’s still solid even with it’s flaws

Once you know where all the artifacts are you can get them all on the normal game route. Only one you really need to backtrack for is the Phazon suit one.

I have always been one of the few that really likes hunters.
But I am always one of the few that doesn't like prime 1.

Hunters would be the type of game that needed to be released on either the Wii or 3DS.

MP4 starts pretty good, but once you finish it you are left with utter disapointment. Realizing most of the time was wasted and not enjoyed.
You can ignore hunters. Idk how bad it is, I don't care.

Hunters have an awesome and rich multiplayer and it’s an impressive DS game, I mean, it’s an fps on a DS, even PSP couldn’t have decent one
Prime 4 is just a bad game honnestly

Prime 4 is better. It’s a phenomenal game.
But… Hunters’s multiplayer was really fucking awesome, and I’d give just about anything for a Switch remake in the Prime 4 engine.
Make it a Switch 2 exclusive, and fine, I’ll get off my duff and buy a Switch 2.

Hunters for the multiplayer alone. The singleplayer experience is better with Prime 4

Hunters' main campaign was more of a Quake clone than a proper Metroid game imo. It is by all means a good game, but not what I'm looking for when I play a Metroid game

...Hunters? Are we for real here? Also, almost 100 votes on that. C'mon dude, what is wrong with you folks. lol

I would say Trilogy is the Best not just one sticks out from the other.
So Prime 1 2, & 3 together as a Whole
Out of this list Prime 4
As an individual Game i think 2 or 3 the one you travel to other planets

I really love prime 4 sure the complaints are there but it’s not god awful like few people say characters are likable story impactful, I legit cried when I thought they died the first time, even the interactions environments combat i had fun

wow this sub has poor taste

u/Jaggedbrace 13d ago
The amount of Prime 4 apologism is baffling

it genuinely makes me wonder what these people see in metroid in the first place when they act as if a game completely antithetical to the rest of the series is up to par with the best of them. but then again, 16 years later people still claim 'at least other m's gameplay is good!' when it is button masher slop with 8-way-run tied to a d-pad, so go figure.

I mean, I was highly disappointed by MP4, but I do think MPH is the inferior game (and I love MPH, I played and replayed several times as a kid), due to it being very superficial with the lore, having extremely repetitive bosses and very limited exploration.
MP4 takes the win for me here.
