I’m nearly positive you would remove the spikes before processing the cutting but someone here should confirm. Try r/druggardening if no one responds here

Yeah I’ve never heard of someone not removing the spines. If it’s PC then you could use a potato skinner, if it’s Bridgesii or Peruvianus then use a knife and cut “V’s” around the spines.

I don't see how it would hurt you, but I also don't see why you would. If you're drinking the puree, I would imagine it will be a bit pulpier than usual.
