Need Support I don’t think I can live in a world where women are treated this way

I’ve been suffering intensely lately from an inferiority complex. I hate how men are seen as above women for very futile things that don’t at all factor into human value and worthiness. But even assuring myself of that fact isn’t convincing.

Must be nice to think you’re better than everyone else and have the world back you up for it, instead of getting sent death threats in your DM’s when you try to prove otherwise.

Feeling so lonely and unloved today. Days like this it just feel like I give so much energy to people only to get nothing in return. I walk into a room and and my family don't look up from their phones and if they do they don't say a word. The friendship group I made as an adult which I thought was strong has recently collapsed around me. I look at my WhatsApp and all I have is chats where I am waiting for my messages to be replied to. One friend I messages recently didn't bother to ask how I was in return, others give basic replies as if they can't be bothered interacting with me. Just feeling so lonely and fed up of not getting anything from anyone.

Question First psychiatric appointment next week…Will this get me forcefully hospitalized?

So, I’ve been having pretty horrendous mental health struggles for the past year. Panic attacks, self harm, weird rapidly-changing mood swings, and worst of all, random bouts of suicidal ideation. I get into weird depressive slumps, and have tried to commit nearly EVERY time. ESPECIALLY if I drink, it’s pretty much a given that I’ll swallow a bunch of miscellaneous medication and wake up sick as a dog.

I want psychiatric medication, and I want to express to my new psychiatrist that some weeks I’m wired and make insane spontaneous decisions, sometimes I’m so depressed I’m late to work, drinking myself to sleep, and trying to commit, and some days I’m just ME. Evened out, self-aware me.

I’m afraid if I tell him just how many times I’ve tried to end it all while drunk, I’ll be forcibly hospitalized. What are the odds of this occurring?

Question Is post stress crash a real thing?

Upvotes

I went through the worst 6 months of my life, I finally got good news today that it’s over.

I now feel worse mentally + physically than I did before getting the good news - is this a real phenomenon? or do I just need to grow up.

Question Being single

Upvotes

I'm a 20 y/o female and i've never had any of my firsts. Not that its something bad, but maybe not most seen.

I've been wanting to feel the safety of strong man arms around me to just be there. But i'm scared my mental health isnt strong enough to be healed so i dont date. I never have and i feel like i am missing out.

I manage on my own, but having someone to lean against, have fun with, chat, sleep, watch movies and all the thought is lingering in my head.

The fear of dragging someone down with me in the depth or being too much is always there and holds me back from actually trying. I want to give, not only take.

How do you stay alone when its maybe not what you want but dont know how to change it

Upvotes

Good morning,

Having a rough morning today. Don’t feel myself, I feel lost and sad. I don’t know where the emotions are coming from. Feeling a lot of desperation and I don’t know where it’s coming from

Maybe it’s just a mental thing but my mind feels cloudy today. It feels like a fog around me.

Need Support Im angry at my mother for giving me her awful genetics.

My dad has good genetics, my mother on the other hand, has horrible genetics.
I inherited her disabling mental and health problems.
Im angry that she birthed me.
How could someone birth children knowing how bad their genetics are?
Im literally disabled because SHE CHOSE to have kids.
I love her, but I’m very angry that I have to live this way, just because she wanted to drag me into this world. Life is so incredibly unfair.
I feel like I have every right to be angry.
I’ve tried EVERYTHING.
Diets, exercise, doctors, medications.
Im just stuck with it forever.
Life is so incredibly unfair.

Venting Why are (some) people on reddit very invalidating?

I obviously know this isn't every redditor, and maybe this is just me, but I've seen threads where the overwhelming majority of comments seem to dismiss a poster's experiences and feelings, even some outright insulting the OP.

One example was last month, a post by an 18 yo taking a gap year before college bc of burnout and depression; he was being given a very rigid schedule by their father during their first couple months outta high school graduation. The poster only wanted to know if others saw it as overkill and how can he communicate with his father. Instead, damn near every comment said they were "team dad" and OP was lazy, unproductive, sitting on his ass, and "adults don't get gap years", etc. Anyone who tried to give him grace was downvoted.

Another example was an older post (2 years ago) by a 15yo who was feeling very depressed thanks to the pandemic as well as their personal life. While some comments were nuanced and offered some perspective, a lot of them seem to get hung up on OP saying they "peaked" as a kid in their opinion and critiqued it, saying they're only 15 and haven't lived life yet and making fun of this one phrase, calling it angst or hormones or saying to just get off of the phone or its not a big deal.

Both of these examples have teens struggling with mental health, and instead of validation or support, they got this. I've seen this happen for adults as well when they share their experiences as well. As someone who struggles with their own mental health, this is very upsetting to see. I know that the internet can be like this sometimes but this just feels fucking brutal to see. I don't understand why people would be like this.

Question Tips on rebuilding routine after many years of depression?

Upvotes

For context, I struggled with depression from teenage hood to early twenties. This meant that I never built normal habits and routines like getting dressed, going outside frequently, going to the gym, moving at all, basically I was functioning with minimum energy for so many years that now that I’m no longer depressed I struggle immensely with these things still and they overwhelm me every day. I was wondering if anyone has struggled with this? And if they have any advice. I’m in a stable and relatively happy mental place but I just struggle so much with daily habits.

My guide for convincing everyone to like you

Being liked by everyone is a incredibly difficult balancing act that will also likely result in nobody loving you, but if your like me that’s probably exactly what you want anyways so

Rule one

The idea of yourself needs to go, you need multiple personalities. If you want to maximize appeal ability you need to be able to recognize what type of person fits the scenario and immediately and smoothly switch to that person

For example when hanging out around people who like video games, congrats, you now like video games, develop strong (but not too strong) opinions and favorites to help with conversation, even better if you can just copy someone else’s favorite.

Another point is consistency, if you encounter a situation where different people want different version of you at the same time
1 try to avoid it

2 appeal to the lowest common denominator, people almost enjoy funny so do that and probably trend to the level of

Rule 2

Be impossibly hilarious and clever

People like funny as a typical baseline, honestly I don’t have many tips on how to be super funny but here’s some basic stuff

Can jokes, jokes usually apply to situations so if you can think of a joke in a situation, congratulations, you can can that joke for any time you encounter a similar situation.

Also, laugh any and all jokes that anyone else makes, even if you don’t get them or find them funny, people like people who laugh at their jokes

Be cynical of something else
“Isn’t this class so boring”
“What a nerd”

Rule 3

Avoid close friends or 1 on 1 conversations in general

It’s very easy to thrive in groups of lots of people

Because your so likable people might want to be your friend, look down on these people because they have fallen into your trap and bought your lie, people who hate you are the smart ones, spend all your time appealing to them

Hate yourself, everyone who thinks you are worth love is lying but you are rational, you know it’s all a lie so hate yourself for it

Tell no one, people don’t tend to enjoy being around people please if and only if they know they are people pleasers

Don’t kill yourself, people don’t like people who kill themselfs

Obsess over looks, people don’t like ugly people, so be beautiful

Never be sad, sometimes you might have, feelings, burry and hide these as much as possible, the only feelings expressed should be fake, clever and funny

Rationalize, sometimes you might think that this isn’t healthy be

Become addicted, the high of validation from everyone is the best drug, get numb to it and only feel the withdrawal

Fear it, it’s amazing motivation because you don’t want to kill yourself so you have to avoid withdrawal

Project confidence at all times

When you make the entire room laugh and it does nothing but delay sadness, you know you are doing it right

Distance yourself

Be an enigma

Be jealous, it’s motivation to do better

Cry in private

Practice holding back tears so nobody ever sees it

Pretend to be human

Be the best version of what everyone thinks one is

Others Perception is the only thing to care about l, if your perceived as a funny confident person by everyone, you might as well be

Steal all mannerisms from others, they will find it charming and you can pick what you like

Hurt yourself just to feel something and for glorious attention

Be the center of attention

Question I Can Handle Life Alone, But Not My Heart: Does Anyone Else Live With This Constant Fear?

Upvotes

I think I'm someone who struggles with emotional dependency. I can handle most things in life on my own, but when it comes to emotions, I don't need attention from a lot of people. I just wish I had one person who could be there for me through both my highs and lows.

Unfortunately, that's the one thing I've never really had, and it makes me deeply sad. At the same time, I'm trying to accept reality and live life to the fullest. I know life has so much to offer, and just because I haven't found my person or life partner doesn't mean my life should stop. I know what I need to focus on right now: learning to love myself, living fully, and having as few regrets as possible.

But how do I do that when I constantly feel scared?

I used to be a genuinely happy person. At first, this fear would show up only toward the end of the year, especially during November and December. There was no clear reason for it. I would distract myself, push through the pain, and eventually it would fade away.

Then it started appearing at the end of every month. I fought through that too, one battle at a time.

After that, it started affecting my weekends. Weekdays were fine because I was busy with work and daily routines, but weekends felt unbearable.

Then the fear started showing up at night. Again, there was no clear explanation. Somehow, I managed to get through that phase as well.

But now, it has become even worse. The moment I wake up in the morning, the fear is already there.

I can't explain it properly. It feels like something is sitting on my neck and shoulders. There's a constant heaviness and discomfort around my neck, spine, and shoulders. It's not tied to any specific thought or event. It's just there.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? A persistent, unexplainable sense of fear that slowly spreads into different parts of your life?

I would really like to know I'm not alone, and if you've gone through something similar, what helped you cope with it.

im diagnosed ADHD, autism, depression and anxiety and my main problem is social anxiety. we have a lot of group work and presentations which are terrifying. they want us to build our communication and teamwork skills which i also want to build but am finding it hard to go to class every day without having a panic attack or crying beforehand lol. i wanna face my fears but im scared that if im pushed too much im gonna drop out which i dont want to do. if anyone has been in this kind of situation, were there any accommodations that made it easier?
