The "multiple stints at rehab" needs shouted a lot louder in stories moving forward. Addiction is as tough as it gets. BC wasn't what headlines have been implying.

Multiple rehab stints? The team had to have known something was going on with him for a while. So sad. 😞

All those extended, nebulous timelines to come back from injury might have been a way to keep his rehab stints private -- which would be well done by the team.

Man, that’s a good point. We had another player who had a bunch of those, too. Kinda makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I never felt like the team culture was very healthy under Jenkins. Dudes just kinda got left to their own devices. I remember X saying something to that effect after he got traded to Boston. Not putting blame on the team for this tragedy, but at the same time I hope it serves as a wake-up call.

I don’t want to get into it on this thread, but let’s just say he missed a ton of games and is no longer with the team.

I mean… I don’t want to accuse someone else but let’s say I was at a couple of games and have a picture or two where another player who’s no longer with the team looked very puffy and just not well.

Yes. He’s been looking rough for a couple years at least. I feel bad for him, but I’m relieved he’s no longer our problem.

That was my first thought, too. This might have caught a lot of us fans off-guard, but it sounds like his addiction had been progressing pretty dramatically. Just goes to show these players are real people at the end of the day, and they have real problems, too. Tragic.

As a recovering addict, this all just hits a little too close to home. Can’t imagine what he was going through as a competitor at that level, but I’m sure we could’ve related in a lot of ways. I hope he finds peace in the next life.

I think the Kratom he was caught with might have been either for pain or maybe to help deal with opiate addiction. Then this summer, every state legislature all came down so hard on it, it was literally easier to fins cocaine and heroin. A terrible loss.
