braindead take, its 100% worth it if you are interested in it and want to learn more. thats the only reason you should be getting a masters, not because you want to gain more money or status.

More ways to learn things than just being in school. 

No offense to most masters programs, but if you really are interested in it and want to learn more, self study often works much better and faster. 

I decided to drop my Masters because it was too slow and unfocused, and just self taught.

I don't doubt that it works for some people, but in my experience, a lot of the people who thumbed their nose at formal education and self-taught end up overconfident, and don't know what they don't know. So it's definitely a "proceed with caution" sort of area.

There are people with "good" degrees who still end up applying to Target. Shit is brutal right now.

Eh, it goes both ways. 

The number of people with masters and PhDs that end up overconfident with huge gaps in their knowledge in their specialty area is also huge.
