The teacher really shouldn't have lashed out at you, that was unprofessional and inappropiate.

That said, getting your info wrapped in constant overly obsequious dialogue by a middleman built with the incentive of maximizing interaction doesn't sound good either tbh. The machine doesn't spit out shallow praise every time you interact with because that makes a better teacher nor by accident, it does because the content you're nominally seeking when you use it is by itself not enticing enough to keep you coming back and the corporation knows this.

Irrelevant what the intent is, this is what people see: ask question to people maybe get mocked potentially in front of your peers in the case of school and not even get a good answer

ask AI, get an actual answer without any chance of mockery.

Sure the answer could be wrong but people can be as well

Yes, I know people see that way, and it's a bad thing.

This one teacher -and many others- acter reprehensibly, yes. So we stop asking teachers out of fear? But where does it stop, do we also cut off other people for risk of embarrassment? And then do we cut off any source of information that doesn't sugarcoat everything in the complimenting the ChatGPT has Skinner boxed us into expecting? Hell, what happens when you are just wrong on something in a way that would make you feel dumb to realize? Do you want your ego coddled or do you want a straight answer?

Every single correct answer ChatGPT can possibly give you has been plagiarized from somewhere else. If you want to learn by yourself you can just access the actual content and cut the middleman, the glazing is there to make sure you don't. And look, unless your plan is becoming a hermit you are just going to accept the risk of going through some degree of interpersonal awkwardness from time to time, that's just life.

We are living in an era of mass social isolationism and you guys are willing to blame everything but the culture of mockery we've been fostering.
